“Excellent !”
Reviewed February 17, 2012

We booked the evening tour and met with our guide, Milka at the Colombian 'Ventana' restaurant at South Beach. The weather was fuzzy and Milka advised us to get an umbrella which we did, thankfully! When the other people arrived (6 couples in total) we began our tour and visit several restaurants where we had exquisite bites while all the time being narrated by Milka. Even though it was raining cats and dogs, we continue with our tour and kept walking and had a great time on the South Beach, Miami Culinary Tour ! Our group was very nice and we met participants from different part of the world. Our guide was extremely informative on all aspects, also on the bites we got to taste and walked us through Miami's past and present topped with the fabulous art deco history.
They have a great website and if you are planning to participate on this tour you need to wear comfortable shoes to walk for blocks and an umbrella or poncho just in case it would rain.
We had a fabulous time and would highly recommend this tour if you have adventurous taste buds and want to experience South Beach from a different angle !

“Excellent Tour”
Reviewed February 13, 2012

I can’t add a lot to the excellent reviews that have already been written. The number of restaurants in the area is a little overwhelming, so this tour was a great way to get a taste at several of them. It is a perfect combination of food and a little general information on the area. The tour was a highlight of our couple days in Miami.

“Best Food Tour I have been on”
Reviewed February 1, 2012

We love taking food tours because many times the best way to understand and experience a city is through its food. Our two favorite food tours we have been on so far were in Chicago and Seattle and we thought nothing could top those two. However, we have a new favorite and it is Miami Culinary Tours. This tour was hands down the best food tour we have been on and would highly recommend it to anyone.

The amount of food you get on this tour is incredible and you will leave feeling stuffed. I believe you stop at seven or eight places but I may have lost track. For our tour, we stopped at a Columbian restaurant, two Peruvian restaurants, a deli coffee shop, a gelatto store for dessert and the Tudor House for a modern take on a cuban. What is great about this tour is all of the little places you would never know about or stop by if you were not familiar with the area.

All of the food was very good but we really enjoyed the ceviche and the many empanadas we got to try. As an added bonus, we received different alcoholic drinks at two of the stops and water was available at each stop. Many other food tours we have been on have supplied no drinks at all and it is bring your own water.

Besides all of the great food, you get a surprisingly decent history and architecutre tour as well, mainly of the art deco hotels on Ocean Drive. Our guide, Mirka, was born and raised in Miami Beach and has seen firsthand the area's comeback over the years. She had a lot of fun stories to share and was very friendly. Because we went on a weekday and our group size was only six, she even took us to the rooftop of the Tudor Hotel to get an idea of the Miami Beach scene from one of the famous rooftop pools.

The price of the tour is $59/per person but is actually a pretty good deal when you consider you are getting a meal, drinks, and a guided tour. The tour begins at a convenient place for parking and was well organized. One suggestion would be to give a list and address of the places visited, so we could go back to the places we liked. Would love to go again or go on the Little Havana tour when we are in Florida again.

“Well Worth It”

After an awkward start we were off and tasting excellent food, interesting drinks and fun desserts. Saw Versace's former house as well as some classic art deco structures.

Miami Culinary Tour's guide starts the tour by introducing herself and giving an introduction of what everyone will soon experience. If you would be so kind to let me know what you mean by “awkward start” I will greatly appreciated. My name is Grace and you can reach me at info[at]miamiculinarytours.com. We are a small local business and we appreciate you took the time to review our food tour, thank you for the 5 stars rating!
