“Too Small to be Excellent”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2012

A cute little walking trail plus green landscape with an old house on the property (oldest in Miami) and great views of the ocean and yachts. Relaxing walk through history.

“A nice corner of Miami's history”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2012

If you are in the Coconut Grove area this is a place worth visiting. It takes you back to the pioneer lifestyle that started Miami.

“Hidden treasure in the middle of Coconut Grove, Florida”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2012

What a surprize to find this hidden little gem right in the middle of the bustle of downtown Miami. It is a 'tropical hardwood hammock', which was the original landscape of the area and is one of the few remaining. A beautiful, very quiet little park, full of tropical plants and hardwoods, the home is open to the public and the boat house down by a peaceful portion of Biscayne Bay show the original idea of attaching cables to the building in order to withstand hurricanes. Plus there is a mystery "well" or something, no one knows exactly what it is. Very cute place, nice walk from the Mayfair Hotel or anywhere in Coconut Grove.

“A Hidden Gem of an Oasis in the City of Miami”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2012

After visiting Vizcaya, we loved the total contrast and simplicity of Barnacle, the history trail boards offered us a glimpse into the life to Ralph M Munroe and his amazing achievements. A man of great foresight, we were left wondering what he would make of the Miami of today and its people. You need to arrive before 2.30 as that is the last tour around the house which is then locked up. We loved the park and sat in big cosy armchairs in the shade and had snooze. If we came back we would picnic in this lovely quiet oasis. This low cost venue- $2 honesty box entry fee and $3 tour guide should not make you think there is nothing much to see, we loved it and learnt to much.
