“Very interesting place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

The kids (13 and 16 yr old girls) enjoyed this place very much as did we. Lots to see, really enjoyed reading the history of the place. Beautiful location on the water. We had a few hours after our cruise before our flight and were glad we came here. Nice little cafe and souvenir store in the basement.

“Nice afternoon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2013

Friendly staff. Amazing house and gardens. Interesting to see how the upper class used to spend their winters. Maybe the Great Gatsby wasn't that far from reality.

“Glimpse of the past”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

Vizcaya has been maintained pretty much in its original condition. Take the guided tour. It is very informative. The house and gardens are beautify and transport you back to the early 1900's. Have lunch at the little restaurant and sit by the pool. The pool is very unusual. It is half under the house and half in the open. The whole place is well maintained and a pleasure to see. Take the time to see the gardens also.

“Interesting but a bit sad.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

This is a very interesting place to visit but it is obviously not very well organised being run by a Miami Dade--almost as it they feel stuck with it. The overall impression is that this was quite a sad place belonging to a "lifelong bachelor" -as they said in those days! Maybe if he had lived in these slightly more enlightened times , it would have been a place of great joy and happiness. By all means do visit --but the staff are pretty sad too!

“Love the flowers!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

This is a must see. It was a little hot that day, to be expected in the summer in Miami. Wow I was blown away by the garden and the architecture. Will be back next time in Miami.
