I'm a big fan of Kimpton properties. This one is a bit different from the typical Kimpton (which is often an older property redone to be an interesting place at something of a "value' rate)-- the EPIC is new, high end, full of "beautiful people" (who maybe have had some work done and maybe shouldn't be showing quite so much skin!). As a result, the experience is different-- this is "luxe" on a large scale with a lot of celebrity "wannabes". The pros here are: fantastic pool areas on the 16th floor, good gym/spa, wonderful views of the city and the water (we paid a bit of a surcharge to get to a really great junior suite on the 27th floor). The cons: the hotel was extremely full during our visit (due to a convention and the Miami marathon) and frankly seemed to be straining, and the place ain't cheap (at least this weekend). The elevators weren't working right, lines at the checkout and the front desk were long etc. All in all, the experience wasn't as "intimate" as the smaller hotel Kimpton experience. I was also of two minds about the restaurant on the property (Zuma-- very popular, very loud and seemed to have a bit of a "cooler than thou" attitude).

Room Tip: A junior suite on a higher floor is fantastic!

Thanks for your comment and being such a Kimpton fan. We totally appreciate your loyalty and were happy you selected us for your stay in Miami. With AREA31-our signature restaurant, ZUMA restaurant, KYMA lounge and EXHALE spa, EPIC is definitely very popular, not only by hotel guests, but visitor and locals, as well. We are glad you found tranquility at our pool area and of course inside your beautiful suite.
We are looking forward to your next visit, please come back soon.
Best wishes,
Jacqueline Ploettner, Resort Manager

Because of an unexpected medical emergency we had to travel to Bascom Palmer eye institute in Miami from our Caribbean island residence. Based on Tripadvisor rating and an earlier experience in Kimpton Chicago we tried your website and found an excellent offer on dec 23 for the next few days; from the check in we were treated very professionally and friendly; because of our experience and the medical need to stay in Miami we had to extend our stay a few times and were given the same friendly rates for a total stay of 15 days. The room was spacious and offered a beautiful view.
What we also liked:
Area 31 Restaurant: superior food, very nice service, magnificent dec 31 dinner, very good wine recommendations by the waiter, sommelier Jose and the manager, who gave us his card but his name escapes me on the moment. On top of this we received nice discounts on our restaurant bills via "Open Table"; some dishes are engraved in our memory and will be tried to be resurrected back home; we have sampled 2-3 michelin star establishments
in other continents before but this restaurant was the best..
Frontdesk and concierge:
Not being allowed to fly back to st.Maarten and not being able to get cruise reservation, we were rescued by Andrew of your concierge desk who booked us our return
to St Maarten via Navigator of the Seas.
We are back in st Maarten and would like to express to all off you our appreciation.
I'm sure we forgot to mention a lot of highlights but be assured that we have not experienced any negatives.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We are sorry to hear the purpose of your trip and we hope for a speedy recovery. We are thrilled we made your stay delightful and relaxing. We appreciate your kind words regarding our award winning restaurant AREA31, on the 16th floor roof top, with amazing food and stunning views over Miami. We are happy that Andrew made the impossible happen and still got you on your mini cruise back to St. Maarten. We hope you will be visiting us again and looking forward to your return.

I decided to go for it, reserving a room here for two nights instead of other excellent options like the Mandarin or the JW Marriott across the street. It was terrific. Great views. Excellent amenities. Free wine tastings in the afternoon. It definitely made my first visit to Miami a memorable one. I only hinted to my wife that this place could be good. She was impressed, most definitely.

I stayed at the Epic for two nights in January 2012. I was there for a meeting.

I arrived late in the evening on Friday to a hopping hotel lobby with a busy bar and ridiculous amount of traffic. I was a bit overwhelmed at first by the expensive cars and scantily clad club goers, but checking in was actually very fast and I had a room overlooking the pool on the 23rd floor.

The only way to describe the room is unbelievable. I was in a King room. There was tons of room to spread out and the room decor was fresh and modern but still inviting and warm. Floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall sliding glass doors led to a balcony with canal/city view. There was a tub and separate shower in the bathroom and double sinks, although not much counter space.

The bed was very comfortable. Different types of pillows to choose from and a nice throw at the bottom, perfect for napping. There is an opening with a movable shade between bedroom and bathroom, arranged perfectly for watching television while soaking. The toiletries are even especially nice! A very good hairdryer is also available.

Hotel amenities are nice too. Try the strawberry mojito at the bar and don't forget the wine hour from 5-6pm in the lobby! The pool is amazing and I only wish I had had more time to lay beside it! The fitness center was well-appointed. Even nicer than the fitness center was the fact that Brickell Key was within walking distance and it has a lovely running loop around it.

Overall, this hotel was luxury defined. The price is high, but you get what you pay for! The only cons were the massive number of "status cars" in the drive made it hard to maneuver and the large number of glam club goers in the hotel bar. But really, it's Miami, and those things are par for the course. The rooms are all high enough that you don't hear the noise in your room. If you have the cash to drop here, you will love it!

Thank you for such an amazing review. We appreciate your compliments regarding our spacious and well appointed rooms, with dazzling views over Biscayne Bay and the Brickell area. Glad you were able to relax poolside and cooled off while enjoying our favorite strawberry mojito. The EPIC is definitely a destination, not only for visitors, but for locals to dine and party with us, as well.
We are looking forward to welcoming you back soon.

I recently stayed at the Epic in Miami and enjoyed everything about this hotel. Great restaurants, nice pool area, great gym and spa. You won't go wrong staying here. The rooms are nicely equipped and clean. Our room had a balcony with water view. The traffic noise was a little bad, but everything else made up for that small negative detail.
