Owner description: The spirited Cuban neighborhood of Miami where the sights, sounds and smells are intoxicating. Be sure to sample a traditional Cuban meal or grab a quick sandwich cubano and some empanadas at any of the walk up counters.

Maybe the evenings are better or a Sunday afternoon, but there's not a lot for a tourist here. It was good to see the memorial and the sights and sounds, but ...

A bus tour stopped in Little Havana, it was so awesome to visit with the folks and shop their wares. We recommend stopping and feeling the quaintness just minutes from the bustle of Miami. Life takes on an entirely different pace. Oh, and the cigars are wonderful!!

One of the things that catch our attention was the Mc Donalds. It is only yellow and white. We ask about why it avoid the red color but no-one gave us an answer. We assume that since red is the characteristic color of the communism, they prefer to not use it.

After reading about Little Havana in our guide book we decided to head there one morning - $30 in a taxi from South Beach. We arrived and the Cigar Factory was closed and it dawned on us that this was not the tourist trap our guide book had made it out to be - rather just a run-down, residential area.

We walked from the cigar factory up to domino park (tiny, smelt like urine) and went to the Little Havana gift shop, which supposedly sold genuine Cuban artefacts - it didn't, it just sold the usual tourist tat, most of which had "Made in Haiti" stamped on the back.

After trying unsuccessfully for 20mins to get a cab we went back to the gift shop and the very helpful man that worked there rang us a cab and we spent another $30 getting back to South Beach, all in all a wasted 2hrs!

Little Havana is a very small tourist area with not much going on. Versialles (sp) Restaurant in this area is fantastic and worth the trip. Have the Cuban coffee
