Owner description: Zoo Miami (also known as The Miami-Dade Zoological Park and Gardens) is the largest and oldest zoological garden in Florida, and the only sub-tropical zoo in the continental United States. The unique climate in South Florida allows us to keep a wide variety of animals from Asia, Australia and Africa, representing a broad mix of species that is unlike any other zoo in the country. Zoo Miami today occupies almost 750 acres, and is home to more than 3,000 animals representing over 500 different species. Of this population, more than 40 species are classified as endangered. The zoo also houses more than 1,000 species of trees, palms and other plants, and over 100 special exhibits showcasing a broad number of species and scientific topics. We are accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) which means we have passed a rigorous application and inspection process and meet or exceed the AZA's standards for animal health and welfare, fundraising, zoo staffing, and involvement in global conservation efforts. Zoo Miami is proud to be an active leader in many global wildlife and environmental conservation initiatives, and we are currently involved in over 36 projects taking place on six continents.

Beautiful place, wonderful animals in great enclosures, often animals that would be found in the wild with one another are also on display with one another. Water parks are delightful and cooling stations are nice. They do not price gouge on food. Be wise and google for coupons as they can greatly reduce the prices. We rented the bikes and really enjoyed how that kept the granddaughter from being so tired from much walking

Zoo Miami Rocks! Have been to a few others in my lifetime, but i have never experienced any like what this one offers. It's huge, has a great variety of animals, the bird exhibit kicks butt, food on site is good as well, you can do the mono rail, bike, etc., usually i prefer to walk and take breaks if necessary along the way, price is reasonable, not pricey, great for kids as well...Highly recommend! Will be back again and again as i am only 50 minutes away.

We spent the whole day (5hrs) at the zoo. It is a very large zoo that is well cared for and well spread out. You can rent a bicycle to tour the zoo and all the people who were riding seemed to being having fun despite the 90 degree weather, but we opted for a double stroller. They have people at various animals to talk about the animals, answer questions and educate people on how to keep the animals from endangered list. We really enjoyed this added part. They had a couple of playgrounds and water play areas which was very nice as well as lots of shade and umbrellas at every animal exhibit. The food was decent and seemed reasonable for the price. It was one of our favorite American zoos for sure as it offers different experiences. They have a monorail, zoomobile, bicycles and strollers, so many options at a reasonable price.

We rented a family bicycle, which not only help us see the whole park under shade and at our pace, but was a very fun experience. We loved that you can see the animals very close. The amphibian exhibits are awesome. We also take the camel ride. We regret that we couldn't feed the giraffe, because we didn`t have time to do it. We really loved the zoo.

A good deal, about $15 an adult. One of the most active animal populations I've ever seen at a zoo. Maybe we were just lucky, but lots of noisy birds, monkeys and running/playing animals.
We also took the tram tour. That was OK, but arguably not worth the $5. It takes a tour around the whole walking path but a bit behind the scenes, too. The guide was enthusiastic and informative, but you didn't stop long at any of the exhibits, if at all. It's probably best to do the tram first so you know what you want to get a closer look at later.
We did not ride the monorail.
