“Toucan's On The Beach”
Reviewed July 13, 2014

We first ate at Toucan's 24 years ago on one of our early trips to Mexico Beach. Their service and food quality have been all over the map through the years, even though they changed quality and management/ ownership frequently. Finally about five years ago we had had enough of the too loud jukebox and uncaring staff and we swore we were never going back. We stuck to it until one day this week.
Our group of four adults decided to give them another try for dinner and drinks Friday evening. We were not especially surprised to find the place hadn't changed its appearance a bit in our several years absence. It all looked the same - kitschy beach bar.
We didn't notice any waitstaff when we first got there, so we got our first round of drinks at the bar and settled in at a booth to see what happened. What happened was that a waitress shortly appeared, brought us menus, took our orders (the menu had not changed greatly (primarily seafood with some chocked and beef entrees), and then brought us our food. Everything was exactly as we had ordered it and hot! Wow, now this is really a change from the several earlier versions of Toucan's we had suffered through! The waitress was as friendly as she was efficient.

All in all we are glad we gave this place another try! We may even become regulars again ...

“Eh, overrated ”
Reviewed July 12, 2014 via mobile

Great location, mediocre, overpriced food. My husbands burger was dry. My sons "prime rib sandwich" was nothing more than a small, fatty steak on stale bread. No cheese, no extras. Had to ask for au jus sauce. Fish taco wrap was just a lot of tortilla wrap. Save your money, don't eat here. Drive on over to port st joe and eat sunset coastal grill.

“Best view around”
Reviewed July 12, 2014

Very cool spot to eat right on the beach. You are almost sitting on the beach with the volleyball net not twenty feet away.
Best thing on the menu that I had was the blackened chicken pasta. I know, it's not seafood but it was very good.

“fun atmosphere - great view”
Reviewed July 10, 2014

My wife and I shared a $30 seafood platter. The food was excellent and we got to sit in the open air dining room and watch the sunset ON the beach. Definitely worth a visit - but the prices were a bit high for repeat visits (for us).

“Good little beach bar/restauant”
Reviewed July 7, 2014

We stopped at Toucan's in Mexico Beach on our way to Panama City. We had a cocktail or two and a light lunch. Nothing wrong or bad. Nothing particularly spectacular. Good service, decent food. If I were in the area again I would definitely eat there again.
