Visited here this afternoon, it was worth the drive. It's pretty close to The Nasa facilities and is a huge area of protected wildlife, including Birds, water fowl, Alligators, Manatees etc. We did the "Black point wildlife drive", it's a 7 mile one way narrow road that takes you around an area that has lots of birds and water fowl mostly, we got to see an Alligator sunning itself and a couple of bald eagles!! Not really much for kids to do, so unless they are really into birds, leave them with the sitter! No where to buy food/snax etc either, it's a shame really because that is why we ended up leaving so soon, we were hungry and had to leave to get food.

We drove through the wildlife refuge and had a great time. We saw several alligators and a lot of different birds. There are several hiking trails and observation decks available. There is a manatee viewing area but we didnt see any today. Definitely worth the drive out there.

It was miles of empty roads and we felt all alone. Which was a great feeling after being surrounded by so many people on the beaches and the other places we visited. This seems like a hidden gem. The Black Point Drive is a few miles long on a nice crushed rock rd and we saw lots of wildlife including a bird getting a huge snake. We rolled down the sun roof and I stood up and looked around and had a great view of the place. We spent 3 hours there and loved it. No bathrooms or amenities really and a fee $5 or 6 to enter.

Even with Hurricane Sandy off the coast, this place rocks! One of my favorite places to see native wildlife while walking the trails!

Fantastic place for wildlife watching - we walked a lot of the way which is great to spot things but I came away with several souvenirs from the mosquitoes !
