We always enjoy visiting this center. If you are interested in seeing the turtle movies, ask the staff to select them. There are five other movies on different environmental topics. The gift shop has a nice selction of items that are reasonably priced.

The Barrier Island Center is a gem in the heart of beautiful Melbourne Beach! The exhibits are top notch. You can learn about Florida's coastal ecosystems and several species of sea turtles. Brevard County partners with the Sea Turtle Conservancy to offer this wonderful facility to the public for FREE! They offer nature hikes, educational talks, summer turtle walks and even kids programs including summer camps. And the gift shop is perfect if you're looking for a little birthday gift or anything for the turtle-lover in your family. This place is worth the drive down A1A for sure!

Nice Barrier Island Centre just down the road from our Resort. Very well displayed with good exhibits the children loved. Nicely done.

Picture perfect location on the beach just down from Seashell Suites. A government facility with education on the life of the barrier Islands of Florida. Nicely done.

It was an awesome place to learn about the sea turtles. They have hands on for the little ones and a gift shop for the adults. They run videos throughout the day explaining the life of a sea turtle and the dangers they are facing. We visit every time we are in Melbourne Beach.
