If you like island-inspired American fare, this place is pretty good. We ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer with raspberry dipping sauce-- it was EXCELLENT! Some of the best coco shrimp I've ever had... and the raspberry sauce actually was the perfect compliment to the shrimp.
The husband had the Island Pasta- it's a curried bowtie pasta w/ chicken and toasted coconut... Not my cup of tea, but he really liked it. His blue side salad was really delicious- with bleu cheese, fresh grapes, candies pecans and the three cheese dressing.
I ordered the mojo pulled pork with sweet plantains and seasonal veggies (grilled yellow squash and zucchini)... this dish was a little disappointing to me. Here's why: first, the waitress said that the pork is slow roasted and pulled by hand... if this is the case, then I don't see why 50% of what was pulled was inedible fat. That said, the actual pulled meat was very moist and flavorful-- I just had to sort through the fatty pieces to find it! The sweet plantains were not authentic-tasting: the plantains were not ripe enough and the outside of the plantains was not caramelized and slightly crispy as I think they should be. The grilled squash was good but an awkward companion to pulled mojo pork.
Despite my disappointments, this was a great restaurant experience. The food was out super fast, the servers were very nice and attentive, the atmosphere was so relaxing. Next time, I'll order the coco shrimp and blue salad... Mmm mmm good!
