Made my first stop at what was formerly known as the Viera Wetlands this past week. Many other photographer friends suggested it and I finally made it. It was great for viewing and traveling around on the dirt road rather than having to hike for miles in the hot sun. Late April is NOT a good time to see many birds, however. February and March would be better months, but we did see a Sandhill Crane family walking along munching on plants and allowing us to take numerous photographs of them.
Water reclamation sites in Florida are good birding sites and are well protected, preserved and numbered in a variety of birds.
