“A Walk in the Wetlands of Viera Florida”
Reviewed June 1, 2013

A free to the public wetland park with walking, bicycling, and some motor accessible paths. a relatively short and easy walk that weaves though a birds paradise of Cranes, Egrets, Cormorants, ibises, and so many more. Great photo opportunities for the novice bird watcher. Then there is the resident otter, as well as an alligator or two. Located west at the very end of Wickham road, and just past the water reclaim station on the left. I would recommend the Ritch Grissom Memorial Wetlands to bird watchers, and those with a desire to see Florida's lush greenery inland from the popular beach areas of Melbourne and Cocoa beach.

“Nature and Wildlife at it's best!!!!”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

If you like Nature and Wildlife this place is the best....This is not a huge area but is abundant in wildlife..we have seen lots of gators, big and babies, turtles, Eagle, Hawk, Osprey, all kinds of ducks and wading birds, heron and Anhinga nests with babies....River Otter with two pups, Sandhill Crane and baby....deer, etc. and our first visit was only two months ago, we try and go once a week...For the disabled or in the hot summer you can drive most of the time...If it has rained the road will be closed to motor vehicles but you can still walk the wetlands...we have done both and both are unique experiences...My only negative about the place is they only have portable toilets..and the past few times we have been there they have not been very clean..so make sure you have some hand sanitizer or wipes in your vehicle...But please don't rate the experience on the toilet...The drive is the best I have ever been too...

“Great place for anyone to go and have a fun experience”
Reviewed May 17, 2013

At this time touring this wetlands is free. A wonderful family outing mostly by vehicle allow you can stop and look around. Depending how much you like to see and take your time doing it, allow 1-2 hours. All types of bird life and some animal and alligator viewing as well. This wetland was created by volunteers that work in the area and the Brevard county employees as well (that is my understanding). A really enjoyable and relaxing place to go to explore and photograph some outstanding wildlife in their own habitat. Thanks to all the volunteers that made this experience possible.

“Never Fails to Impress”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

Perhaps the best part of the Ritch Grissom Memorial Wetlands is it's accessibility. Most days some if not all of the roadways on the dikes are open to motor vehicle traffic. For the disabled like myself and the elderly like my mom who just can't get around on foot it allows us to see wildlife we never would have had access to.

I try to make it up to the Wetlands at least once a month and I've never failed to see something new, different and exciting.
