We recently had lunch at Matt's; it was the first time for two of us. The other two were local and had been there many times. The seafood was just excellent; I had scallops that had just arrived at the kitchen two hours before. They were perfectly cooked. The calamari was wonderful, not the overbreaded, fried gunk but unbreaded and sauted with terrific seasoning. One of us also had it as an entrée, it was that good.
We ate inside as it was very warm outside but the patio area looked very inviting and I can see an evening meal there with a nice glass of wine and people watching.
Located in the historic area of downtown Melbourne with lots of shops to visit if you want lunch and an afternoon of exploring. We had no trouble parking.
Years ago we loved an older version of Matt's that was in a strip mall; it closed and we mourned its loss. While we are not local we often visit family in the area and loved finding Matt's once again. We'll be back for more delicious food and a great atmosphere.
I'm unable to comment on some of the "following". The scenic view is a streetscape, we didn't ask about reservation, delivery or late night hours. The interior of Matt's is fairly formal but the patio would seem to be appropriate for children; well behaved older childen should do fine in the indoor dining room. I don't think they have brunch but I am not sure.
