“you can feed the giraffes!”
Reviewed October 11, 2009

For a small zoo, it really is fantastic! The giraffe exhibit is unbelievable! The giraffe come up to you and you can actually feed them a cracker. It's so awesome!! Our 2 and 3 year old loved all aspects of the zoo. The train ride is not worth $3 though.

“A great little Zoo”
Reviewed October 8, 2009

The Brevard Zoo has more the feel of a Nature Preserve, than it has that of a Zoo. Lovingly arranged and very family friendly it is pure fun to walk through. Especially within the aviary, where you can get close to exotic birds.
The Zoo is divided in regions - from native Florida Wildlife to South America, Australia and Africa.
While the amount of animals is limited - they are being well cared for in natural environments.
All in all a fun place - and one that should not be missed, when visiting the Space Coast.

“Nice, Compact Zoo”
Reviewed September 3, 2009

Our visit, at the end of the summer, was very pleasant because the zoo was empty, and we didn't have hordes of people. I'd hate to see it during the peak period, though, becuase it IS compact. The size is a good thing, though, and it's just the right amount of walking for a morning or afternoon. We were there almost 3 hours. The snack bar was good and reasonably priced. I could have gone for more water fountains throughout. The only oddity in this zoo was a cranky Zoo volunteer who would shout at the kids in the aviary (bird rooms) when there was no need. Truly, her voice was a bark that we later heard from the train ride. In one case she was barking at some boy to not stick his finger out or have it risk being gnawed on by a bird. Fair enough, she's worried about safety, but jeez, saying it in a normal voice would have worked as well. She was the loudest mammal we heard at the park. The "water park" part of the zoo is only appropriate for toddlers. Our 7 year old scoffed at it. We felt the kids meals were a good value at $5 for hot dog, fries, pudding, and drink. I DO wonder about that container of Mayo at the condiment stand that's been sitting out in the 95 degree heat. The train ride is nice, but be warned that the seats are very uncomfortable for adults, even those who re 5 ft 4 inches. The noon vulture feeding is cool. And the giraffes cooperated and let us feed them. See pix.

They have a cute little waterpark inside for the little guys--bring swimwear! The giraffe enclosure is the very best part. The kayak ride is a must!!!

“Great addition to the zoo”
Reviewed May 9, 2009

Paws on Play. This site has doubled the value of this zoo. If you haven't been since it's incorporation, your missing out. The kids can take a time out from looking at the animals and take a dip in the water while the parents sit back and take a break while the kids run off steam. Highly recommend, will be going every time my grandchildren come to visit. They have a great grandparents plan for admission
