“Even in the rain”

The Art of Sand was well worth the extra $4 charge. All the help are extremely knowledgeable and nice. My husband got to pet a snake. We saw most of the zoo before the downpour that ended our zoo day.

“Great Small Zoo!”
Reviewed April 14, 2013

We spent a few hours the other day visiting the Brevard Zoo. We had never been before, so didn't know what to expect. We have been to zoos all over the country, from huge jobs like San Diego and National Zoo in Washington, to small city zoos. Tickets were reasonable, and we also went for the Sand Sculpture exhibit at extra cost. The sand sculptures were very well done by artists from around the world. Also available in the zoo is a really cool zip-line feature that seems to be overhead through most of the zoo. It appeared that most of the zip-liners were way younger than us. The zip-line is not a single line, but a series of lines. I'm sure somewhere there is a forum about this for those interested. Anyway, we went counterclockwise around the displays, and a great thing was the abundance of natural plants all over, providing lots of shade. Personally, I'd suggest coming when the temps are below 80 degrees, as it was for the most part on our trip. Don't expect to see as large a selection of animals as in the big zoos. Do expect to see a good selection of healthy animals taken care of by mainly young keepers who love the animals. Our first highlight was seeing a less than three month old jaguar cub, and its mom. Not just laying around, but being quite active as young cats are. Next up we stopped while walking over a bridge crossing water full of crocodiles. Crocs are not normally that active, but we noticed a couple being very affectionate, if you know what I mean. Other highlights for me were the birdhouse, with a bunch of gorgeous birds flying around (you can feed them!) that had no fear. Also, the rhino area was up close and personal, and the giraffes came right up to you! Overall, this was a real highlight and I believe anyone would enjoy the Brevard Zoo.

“Stand By for Visiting Kids”

Small zoo which makes it manageable to do in one day. The zoo is always improving with more animals. Easy access with small children and senior citizens. With food and train rides plus admission it gets a bit pricy but worth it.

“A very fun zoo”
Reviewed April 12, 2013

The Brevard Zoo was soooo much fun, and l'm 66 years old. All the kids were in 7th heaven. They have kayak rides down the river and paddle boats in the lake. If you have a couple of kids they will love it. We bought year passes, we WILL be going back.
