If you are in the area,it is well worth the $8. entrance fee. The pier boasts some of the best fishing off coastal Florida. Although I do not fish, I enjoyed watching those who were pulling in blues, a tarpon and a nurse shark. There was a large pod of dolphins a short distance away as well. The water was a magnificent a aqua, emerald green. The tide was just receding and I had the good fortune to find several conch shells. We went on a sunny day in January and the beach was mostly deserted. I am thankful this area has been preserved as it really is quite a special place.

We enjoyed fishing on the pier 2 days in a row and caught bluefish. We also saw several dolphins and many types of birds. There is a fee of $8 for a car with up to 8 people. There is a restaurant and bait/tackle store next to the pier.

I liked the staff and the food. It was very crowded as the sun was out for the first time in days. You could see the surfing beach and surfers. We have been there several time since it opened last year. The only drawback was paying to get into the park as we only went to eat.

We have camped here three times now over the past 3 years, in November and December and January always hoping things would improve. But they have not. The noseeums are impossible and if you are in a motorhome or trailer as we were the electricity is dangerous. We have a monitoring system on our coach and it cuts off when the electricity gets dangerously low for applicances including AC. This happens constantly so using a microwave or AC is pretty seriously impossible. Most folks have no idea they are damaging their equipment since they have no sensor. There is no notice of such low voltage throughout the park on any website including reserve america. There is a small notice at the campground check in desk which it is easy to miss. Buyer beware. We won't be returning. With the bugs and limited AC it is just not fun. You can't stay on the ocean front 24/7 which is "usually" bug free.

We enjoy visiting the inlet area. My two children managed to stand still and let a Manatee coast by them. There is fishing in the inlet. The only thing we have yet to do is park our travel trailer down there by the water for a weekend. That will come soon.
