Very clean hotel and great room. Stayed in the Dawson Suite, brilliant bathroom with bath, shower, bidet, toilet (that did break - but these things happen) and basin. 4 poster bed, wardrobe and small flat screen tv in the bedroom. No turn-down service.

Great staff but didn't enjoy dinner. Very limited amount of largers to choose from (no Fosters/Becks/Budwiser ect.) but good choice of half bottle wines. Dinner was a 3 course meal, starter unfortunatley consisted of 4 pieces of rolled up parma ham, a poached egg and very random peas rolling about on the plate (!) Main course, poached halibut, shallot and cabbage (and more mushy peas) looked and tasted very bland, my partner had lamb which unfortunatley was quite unedible and left 3/4 on the plate. Skipped dessert and went to the pub - Red Lion - down the road.

Breakfast was quite good, normal full English & cereal but no newspapers available at the hotel.

Overall, cute hotel, probably the best in the area but if I was to stay again I'd book the Indian a short walk away for dinner.

Stayed here for one night - managed to get a late booking and so got a great price. The hotel is fairly small, so there was nobody on reception when I arrived - however, there were clear signs as to how to contact staff via telephone and they attended quickly.
The room was fairly large and comfortable, and very clean and tidy. Extra heaters were available which was useful as it was a fairly cold night. A traditional feel to the room,
Bathroom facilities were good, although I would have preffered a bath as well as a shower.
The bar offers an extensive selection of malts to try. Very nice too. Comunal areas were pleasant, although some of the doors are slightly out of keeping with the overall atmosphere.
Breakfast was excellent. Good selection and cooked to order.
Staff - I think I only saw one member of staff - were very pleasant and helpful.
Would certainly stay here again if I had the opportunity.

We booked The Riversholme as a one night stop after a busy day at Alton Towers.
The location is great, a 5 mile drive from AT and in the direction of the M1, so not out of our way at all.
The hotel stands back from the main road in the village of Rocester, and is an extremely quiet location. We had room 6 on the top floor, which was ideal for a family of four as the children had a separate room off ours and it was spacious too.
The staff were all friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.
If you stay here, you must eat in the small restuarant as the food is superb. It has won numerous awards for its outstanding cuisine, which I can see why! The prices were good also, with a 3 course meal at around £18
The only minus for us was breakfast was room service only. This would suit some people, but the children found it difficult to eat their breakfast off a tray on the bed!
Otherwise, great value for money and well worth a stay..........a good choice for all!

This place is lovely - we booked for dinner, bed and breakfast after a thrill seeking day at Alton Towers. Room was big and unusually decorated. My only criticism would be that bed was on the small size for a double. The staff were lovely especially the barman. The restaurant was small but you were able to talk without worrying that everyone else could hear your conversation. The food was divine - seasonal produce, interesting combinations and just as much attention paid to the accompanients as the main event. Portion sizes were big. They also have an elaborate whiskey collection and sample menus so you can try a few. All in all I would heartily reccommend Riversholme. A real treat!

We stayed one night and were impressed by the large en-suite room (6), the friendliness and the cooked breakfast.
There is a small bar with speciality malt whiskies and bottled beers, and the restaurant is apparently an award winner.
The bed and bedding were quality, and there is ample car parking.
Only drawback is no lift (if you're elderly or have difficulty with stairs).
We'd certainly return.

Stayed at this hotel the night before a visit to Alton Towers. Staff were really pleasant and we had breakfast at the hotel which was excellent. Alton Towers is about 10 minutes drive away so if you want to get there for the theme park opening it's perfect. We did not expect the hotel to be as charming as it was being in the same town as a major company HQ and the very popular Alton Towers but it was.

We stayed here on their 2 night deal including room, breakfast and dinner on one evening for £179 per couple. 4 of us stayed and 4 of us had a great time. We were visiting Alton Towers so wanted somewhere close by, the Riversholme is just 10 mins drive away. We notified the hotel of our intended late arrival on Friday evening and this was not a problem when both couples arrived after 11pm. We were welcomed and even served a sneaky drink in the bar (late!). The rooms were lovely though the decor was a little tired compared to some contemporary luxury hotels. We had one large room on the ground floor overlooking the front which had 2 double beds and a fireplace but a rather odd bathroom added into the corner of the room (room 4). The other couple were in a more standard type double room on the second floor which also had a fireplace, high ceilings and a nicer bathroom with bath as well as shower (room 8).

Breakfast both days was a real treat, good portion sizes, very quick services and lovely food.

Dinner was exceptional. We were seated with an aperitif in the bar to peruse the menu and shown through to dinner once we had finished our drinks. Every course was fabulous and for us was included in the price of our stay, otherwise would be £27.95 for 4 courses which is fantastic value given quality and presentation of food. Very good London restaurant standard.

We finished dinner with drinks and coffee in the bar where we stayed sampling their extensive malt whisky selection until 1am.

For a great convenient hotel to Alton Towers for adults - this is the place to stay! We'd definitely return and the service can only be described as fantastic!
