Owner description: Lovegrove Gallery & Gardens is the international headquarters for Florida artist, Leoma Lovegrove and one of the most colorful destinations in the sunshine state. The gallery showcases Lovegrove's original art and it is here where you can step into her techinicolor world of tropical artistic flair and experience the authentic island style life of an artist. Paint your own Florida souviner in her world famous botanical waterfront gardens (Paint and brushes included). Or paint your very own coconut postcard to keep or mail back home (no box needed- mails as is). You can also paint your own painting in the garden with the help of Vino's Picasso (Seasonal Nov-April). You can also enjoy homemade ( "Love Boat Ice Cream")ice-cream right out of a real coconut shell and guess what? You can keep the shell and take it back home to remind you of the happy memories you made while visiting one of Florida's most popular historic landmarks and destinations. Sunday's with Tucke, (Jim Tucke, the musical genius and Beatles historian) begin in December and her performs every Sunday through March. Hours for the live music is 2 pm - 5 pm. The event is FREE. Leoma's private studio and guest cottage is adjacet to the gallery so chances are you see Leoma busy painting a canvas or planting a flower or beating on her drum on the garden stage.

“Matlacha Art Colony - A Hidden Treasure”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

A 40 minutes drive south from Punta Gorda off Hiway 41 (Burnt Store Road) will take you to a small village community of Matlacha, an artists' colony of treasures. It's well worth the drive and one can find small mom and pop restaurants and unique gift shops along that stretch of road. They came by car, van and motorcycles the day we were there. You'll find art treasures from the odd to the sublime. Be patient and you'll soon find a parking place. Everyone is friendly and it's a well spent day there.

“Very colorful and fun”
Reviewed March 5, 2013

This gallery was awesome. So whimsical and colorful. The back garden was so much fun to walk through with tons of bottle trees, bridges, a small painted bus, and a whole lot of whimsy. Photos were acceptable, too.A very inspiring must see in Matlacha.

Whenever we have friends visit we take them here. Also when we have too much money we go here to get rid of some of the nasty stuff on very neat local type stuff.
