Bridgewater Inn

We rented this cottage for some friends of ours who visited us from California as we live in Matlacha. They found the cottage (which is across the street and down just a bit from Bridgewater Inn) to be cute, very clean, well equipped with an awesome view. They enjoyed drinking early morning coffee while looking over the peaceful waters of Matlacha Pass. The location of this cottage is within easy walking distance to restaurants and shops. They would of rated this a six star (if this was and option and) if it had a queen/king bed as they are somewhat tall people but it is our understanding that queen/king beds are hard to come by in Matlacha due to the size and quaintness of most lodging on the water locations. Would highly recommend this place as a great place to stay in Matlacha.

We originally booked the Bridgewater for one night, but ended up staying for three - that alone should give an indication of the appeal of the hotel and of Matlacha itself.

Bob and Diane, with help from Martha and another lady who's name I didn't get, create a warm, welcoming and helpful atmosphere. The rooms have such lovely decor, with the motto "Live Well, Laugh Often, Love Much" adorning each area. The quirky slopes in bits of the rooms adds to the appeal, and the place is spotless.

The view is extraordinary, a real slice of paradise, with places to sit and sun, or fish, as I tried for the first time with assistance from Bob. An extraordinary number of dolphin sightings right from the deck, and bird life and the beauty of sunrise and sunset were memorable too.

All the restaurants, bars and galleries of Matlacha are within walking distance, as well as kayak hire, bait shops etc. There's a lot of traffic on the road in front, but we didn't find it disturbing at all.

The town and the hotel were just a revelation to us, the highlight of our trip, and both are thoroughly recommended,

We stayed here three nights and had such a fabulous time. If you like to fish, relax and watch the world go by on the water, this is your place. We fished right outside of our three patio doors! The room was very clean, spacious and quiet. We could walk to shops, bars and restaurants. The views were spectacular and Bob was a great host. We will come back again.

At first glance the inn may appear a little small, however the rooms are very spacious and comfortable - our room included and coffee maker, kitchenette and kitchen table which was convenient. The view is breathtaking. From our room we could see out into the inlet where I kid you not the dolphins come and play and fish for HOURS! If you get up in time you can enjoy the gorgeous view of the sunrise on the east side. We could walk everywhere to get food, drinks and shop! The staff was so friendly, they make you feel at home instantly and go out of their way to assist you. Whenever I get back to Matlacha I will definitely be staying here!

Room Tip: East side- sunrise, west side- dolphins. Tough choice, good luck!!

Needed a place to stay one night while fising with a guide in Matlacha. I chose Bridgewater, based on location, and reviews. Nice clean place, with a sparkling young lady at the front desk. The room was large with a complete kitchen, and coffee to get you started the next morning. The mattress seemed to have internal springs of some sort, so every time I moved it made noise.

Room Tip: I was in Suite One. It was roomy.

My family and I have been meeting here at the Bridge Water Inn twice a year for 15 years. The fishing is great. The Inn is so well run by Bob and Sandy who have done a great job remolding the rooms and keeping the Inn spotless. I can't wait to go back in March to catch those hard to catch snook.

Room Tip: rooms 3, and 2

OK, take a Marriott, Hilton, Westin,Intercontinental and the Ritz and forget about them. Now picture something better, unique and out of your comfort zone and you get the Bridgewater Inn.
Beautifully located on the water (and I really mean on it!),this hotel has so much! Yes, you might not get the shampoo/conditioning bottles and the mints under your pillow, but I was glad to trade those for the beautiful views, the sunsets with dolphins and the sunrises with the manatees. The hotel is very reasonably priced for where it is and the fact that there are only 7 rooms. Please see and stay at this hotel before you leave this earth. It is worth it!
