Bay Eden Arms Hotel

After a bad experience on a short break at Llandudno (NOT with Shearings or Bay Hotels) I was reluctant to try another one. I am glad that we did because I have just thoroughly enjoyed a weekend break at the Eden Arms Hotel. The staff from the reception staff to the cleaners were brilliant. I have a potentially life threatening food allergy.. The chefs made sure that my food was prepared accordingly and at each meal I was told by the waitress/s what I could or could not have from the menu. The chef's went out of their ways to ensure that my menu was as near to what everyone else was eating. Even though I thanked them personally I would like my appreciation to be noted.. Value for money this short break is excellent. Good food,, good accommodation, and enjoyable entertainment. We would definitely visit this hotel again. Peter from Littleborough Room 15.

Room Tip: Happy with ours but the ones one the front can have traffic noise if like us you sleep with a window...

Stayed at the hotel for five day break and had a very good time with nothing to complain about for the price. This was the first Shearings hotel that we have been to that had an ironing board and iron in the room. The staff from reception to the waitresses were friendly and all worked really had to make our stay enjoyable. The bar was a bit small and it could be a bit shambolic at times but the lady was on her own and worked her socks off. Trips to Durham and Newcastle were fine but would give the half day to Hartlepool a miss. The spa and pool were a good attraction for us. We would stay here again

We have just returned from a Monday to Friday break. It was an inclusive break were you had four drinks inclusive per person per day of your choice. We found the food to be lacking in flavour and although the meals sounded interesting on the menu they were very disappointing when they arrived. The bedroom we had was very spacious but needed refurbishing. We found the staff very friendly especially Brett our waiter although we found the dining room very cold. The hotel provided entertainment on an evening which was very good. The trips to Newcastle and Durham were very good but would give the half day trip to Hartlepool a miss.

Room Tip: Ask for one that has been refurbished

I’m sorry that you found our dishes to be bland; you can be assured that I will look into this as a matter of urgency. We take pride in the quality of our food and check every dish going out of the kitchen. I’m disappointed that you found your food to be under par as we specifically source a lot of our ingredients locally to maximise quality and create fresh tasting dishes. Had you mentioned this at the time I would have investigated the perceived problem straight away.
With reference to your comments on your accommodation, you’ll be pleased to hear that we are consistently updating our rooms whilst also aiming to retain the character and charm of an old coaching inn.
Thank you for your kind comments on the staff, I think Brett now holds the record for the most mentions on trip advisor!
It would be great to welcome you back to The Eden Arms again in the future.

Having stayed at a fair few shearings hotels we tend to stick to the coast and country hotels as we find the food and general standard is better than the bay's. The Eden arms however is an exception. The warm welcome we received on arrival coupled with an excellent bar meal as we arrived at 2pm started our break very well. Meal times were excellent with plenty of choice and our young waitress Kerry-Ann? Was exceptional. Food was hot and delivered on warm plates. Our room was large , warm and very clean. The gym facilities were good although I felt a little intimidated by the locals who also used it .....I suggest you don't use the gym at 7am but go at 8am as the mister motivators leave then! Witnessed a few silly complaints made by fellow guests .....what do some people expect for such a reasonable holiday.... The manager dealt with these people in a fantastic way he is a credit to shearings. We watched the evening entertainment on our first two evenings , firstly a lovely young lady who sang beautifully then on our second evening a gentleman who played trumpet, clarinet, sang, told jokes and did some magic, but unfortunately there were some extremely rude audience members who chatted throughout both Monday and Tuesdays entertainment. We then decided to sit in the lounge for the rest of the week as I would have said something to them that I would have regretted! Would definitely return to the Eden arms. A fantastic comfortable hotel.

Went with national for a long w/end to Durham, we stayed at this Hotel and we weren't disappointed, although our itinerary was full to bursting, the hotel does offer leisure facilities, a pool, Jacuzzi and a gym. We enjoyed the food and the room facilities were great, very clean with comfortable beds..........

A very nice location with plenty to explore in the area, the staff were really friendly and helpful. The food was very good although the staff were pushed to keep up with the serving. The room itself was spacious, although clean was in need of a deep clean, the decor was tired and needed sprucing up and the radiator was on the small side for the room.

We have just got back from a three night party weekend at the Eden. This was our second visit in just a few weeks so that obviously says a lot about what we think of this hotel. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. The staff can not do enough for you. The food was amazing, especially the chef's daily specials. The leisure centre is a real bonus, with a lovely pool, spa, sauna and steam room all included free (with lovely large towels). Entertainment of a high standard was provided on each night. The location is great being close to loads of attractions.DO NOT MISS THIS HOTEL.

Room Tip: Take pot luck, we have never had a poor room.
