We've traveled with my wife for a whole week in Donegal and were on our way back to Dublin. We decided to visit Clonmacnoise at our last day and just stay somewhere for a night. We've just drived in a yard of the B&B and knocked the door to get a bed and some rest before the last drive. Instead we've got a warm family greeting, best tea ever, homemade pie, nice conversation. John, Kate and Cora have tanked us fully with energy on those rainy days.

Thank you! We would never forget our stay in the heart of Ireland!
With warm greetings,
Alex & Lena

P.S. Just to add some technical details for other travelers:
- only few km from Clonmacnoise: great opportunity to go there before tourist buses arrive to enjoy few quite minutes there.
- very clean, warm and dry: that is essential if you hike in Ireland ;)
- ~5 km from Schannonbridge: small nice village with a peace of history.
- very quite and peaceful nature around, nice place to get some rest after and in-between of exciting Ireland exploration.

Thanks once again! We'll definitely return one day :)

We had no idea what a treat we were in for when we signed up for the evening meal at Kajon. John spent 30 years owning and running fine restaurants and loves to show off his skills, to his guests delight. No exaggeration to say that we would drive there just for the meal. This is not to in any way take away from the great house, location and view out the front windows. I can not leave out the best part of staying at Kajon, and that is simply: John and Kate. Two unique and fun personalities who make you feel like part of the familly and have great tips on what to see in their neck of the woods (Clonmacnoise is just down the road). All this and we only stayed one night. You can be sure we will plan our next trip with more time at Kajon B&B.

Room Tip: Our front corner room was nice and bright with a great view

It's a good thing we didn't stay at John and Kate's place the first night of our trip, because we would have stayed the whole week!!!! Thank you for all the laughter, the nice and generous treats, the wonderful meals and the lovely room with a great bed. If you're planning to visit Clonmacnoise this is the place to stay! (Or you can skip Clonmacnoise and just stay at this great B&B!)

It's nice to be greeted by such friendly people, with a wonderful sense of humor. We were welcomed with homemade cake and coffee. After being shown how to avoid another "tourist trap" we were served the best lamb chop dinner, which was prepared with love. We had a nice night in good beds, and woke up to a lovely breakfast. We even got homemade scone with us for the flight home. And we found this little goldmine by coincidence, we were just so lucky! Thanks for a wonderful experience. "Sean" and Marianne

We stayed 19 April - 20 April 2013. All of the previous reviews are dead on - these are two amazing people who have a B&B in a wonderful location. The welcome was fantastic (we even arrived several hours early) and we felt so welcome that by the end of our quick visit we left wishing we had more time there. There is a perfect balance between high level / proactive customer service and peace and quiet and privacy.

Every tip they gave us worked out wonderfully and we have nice excursions in the surrounding area. There is plenty to do close by. One thing you MUST do if you visit is take advantage of the dinners offered by Kate. I guarantee you won't eat better for the rest of your trip.

Thank you guys so much we had an AMAZING time!!!!

I was there with my father in April 2013 and it was reall wonderful. Kate and John are so friendly and they gave us a really great welcome with fresh scones and tea and coffee. In the evening they cooked a delicious meal and the room was very beautiful and perfectly clean.

Kajon House is close to the Clonmacnoise Abbey site. The hosts Catherine & John provided a very homely environment. We were welcomed with scones and coffee & departed with a gift of Catherine' superb home made scones. The room was well appointed and the bathroom quite adequate, although a little constrained. The Irish breakfast was excellent and very well presented. They had breakfast menus available in English, French, German, Hebrew & Japanese. They would be perfect hosts in a sitcom on B&Bs, not in the Fawlty Towers sense, as they are super efficient. And very funny.
