“Eating by the water”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

Second year we visited here. Went by boat which was great fun. It isn't fine dining so don't expect that but the food is good. We shared some buffalo wings which were spicy hot and very tasty and I had the coconut shrimps and my wife had mahi mahi both very good. It is a little expensive for sitting on a bench under a thatch roof but you are right by the water. You may even see a dolphin swim by. Have a cold beer or two and chill out island style. A a glass of wine is, as in most diners expensive as much as dollars 15.

“Expensive, greasy food on the water.”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

We wanted to try out the restaurant at Happy Hour, which turned out to be BOGO half off, at the bar counter only. No reduced prices on food. We did only order fried appetizers--onion rings, conch, and wings--so some grease is expected, but the rings were saturated and unpleasant and the wings were declared "disgusting." The conch fritters were better. We had been interested in dinner, but prices were silly for an empty restaurant in the off-season. The salad bar seemed promising but looked stuck in the 1970s. Service was professional but not the least bit welcoming, and we later realized we were short-changed at the bar. Beautiful location, though.

“Good Food and Great Location”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

We had lunch and both of us had grouper. Mine was blackened on a salad and my husband had it on a sandwich. The fish was so moist, fresh and flavorful and the portion generous. It's a VERY casual place and a great location right on the water. I checked out the salad bar at lunch and nothing special there so stick with the Cesaer Salad with the blackened grouper and you will love it! Friendly service as well

“I don't get it”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

The Snook Inn is always crowded, which escapes me. We were here about five years ago, and unimpressed, but we thought that we would give it another try this year. Perhaps the key is to order a bottle of beer, because the mixed drinks are disappointing. We ordered appetizers, which were OK, but nothing special. It is nice to sit on the water, which may be part of the draw.

“All the quality you expect from "all you can eat seafood"”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

While en route to Marco our travel companions encountered 2 separate couples who raved about Snook Inn, calling it a "must try". The person at the desk at our condo, presumably a local, called it "awful" and a "tourist trap". We tried it anyway and one of the meals was very good, two were just awful, and the fourth was a burger. Starting with the positives, I ordered the catch of the day (snapper) and it was very good. The portion was generous, it was fresh, and cooked perfectly - I'd order it again. The views of the water are good and the staff was friendly and efficient. However, two in our group ordered the broiled seafood combo and it was just horrid. Now i realize that when you get 2 scallops, 2 fish fillets, 3 shrimp, 2 sides and a salad bar for $24 that you aren't going to get the highest quality fresh seafood. They are going with quantity over quality but the seafood was just terrible. The shrimp were so overcooked that you could barely chew them. I honestly can't believe they would serve them. The fish was mushy and didn't seem fresh at all. All of the items seemed like they were prepared some time ago, had sat under a warmer for quite some time, and were served. The scallops were good though.

In hindsight, we should have gone with the local's recommendation to avoid this place. The catch of the day is good but the rest is pretty bad.
