We chose Marco Lakeside Inn because it was not a high rise hotel, and it was affordable. The room was clean, the kitchen well equipped, and there was a roomy sitting area. We knew when we made the reservations that ours was a room with only a partial view of the lake, which turned out to be a fairly small, nondescript body of water. The white lattice fence on the small balcony does hide an unpleasant view of a parking lot and low rent residences next door, however could not drown out the noise of loud music, talking and cars from those residences. The location of the Inn is convenient by car to shopping and restaurants. Although walking to some of those areas is possible, the walk is not particularly visually appealing. Staff did respond promptly when the air conditioning would not come on when we checked in. Staff also responded promptly to our complaint of the smell of exhaust fumes in the bedroom. The air conditioning filter was changed. However, the smell was still there, although stronger at times than others, so we let it go.The pool area is pleasant and clean with plenty of cushioned chairs for lounging. We were not disappointed with the Lakeside Inn, but we were disappointed with Marco Island in general. Access to the ocean is very limited. We couldn't even find a place to stop and look at the ocean much less have an oceanside dinner or cocktail hour. There are two public beaches, one with very limited parking and no facilities and the other a lagoon area where the ocean is only accessible by wading across knee deep water (with towels, chairs, coolers, etc.!)

My husband wanted to attend a conference at the Marriott, and prices at all of the oceanfront resorts seemed exorbitant, so we decided to look for another place to stay. Thankfully we found and chose the Lakeside Inn! The Lakeside Inn was a great place to stay - the property is very pretty and well-kept, with nice landscaping and a delightfully warm pool; it also has a cute beach area with tiki hut. All staff were very helpful and provided great recommendations for things to do on Marco. Room 208 was very comfortable and clean and we liked where it was located (near the property's beach and pool). The room could use some updating in the kitchen area, but it was nice to have the kitchen to use for snacks and drinks. We had a rental car, so it was no trouble getting around the small island of Marco. Not to miss: watching the sunset from Marco's public beach area, dinner at Snook Inn in Marco (nice salad/bread bar is included with your meal; delicious beer-battered grouper sandwich! waterfront), kayaking to uninhabited island from Island of Capri (Saltwater Sports; saw dolphins! get drinks/early bird dinner after at Capri Fish House), Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary (long boardwalk through forest/marsh/swamp - great wildlife viewing! 1 hour from Marco), Naples Zoo (nice place to walk on beautiful day; also offers 20-min boat cruise to primate islands - included with admission - 35 min from Marco), early bird dinner at Blu Fusion in Marco - get Walla Walla chicken and lava cake- YUM!). Do not take an airboat cruise through the Everglades if you do not like high speeds - I found it very scary and 1 hour was too long on board - would have rather canoed or taken a regular boat cruise. Weather was GREAT in March - low 80s in day, 70s at night. It was a great trip!!! More on food: Oceanfront dining at Marco Marriot was pricey, but worth it - good food, plentiful, awesome view.

The Lakeside Inn was bright, clean, and had friendly staff! It was a great hideaway, that was off the beaten path. We loved the clean linens, great smell and softness of both the sheets and towels. We also loved the balcony! Great place, wished we could have stayed longer!

The Lakeside Inn at Marco Island provides us with a romantic retreat and serene sanctuary. As we drive away from the hustle and bustle of Lauderdale and over the Marco Island Bridge, we willingly immerse ourselves in the restorative beauty of the Inn and the relaxed pace of the place.

Everyone in the office is enthusiastically helpful and attends to whatever we might need. Overall, room service is simply excellent on all levels! The plush bedding and towels add a level of comfort that pampers, and the full kitchen, dining nook and comfy couch provide a level of easy living.

Most importantly, the special setting of the Inn: the warmth of the heated pool and pleasure of a screened in terrace facing the lake, provide a serene "suspension of time" that heightens the delight of our vacation.

We intend to return to the Lakeside Inn . . . our special sanctuary and "romantic retreat!"

We were visiting high school friends who own a winter home in Marco Island. They had room for two and there were 8 of us! Six of us were lucky enough to stay at the Lakeside Inn. I felt like we had traveled back in time to the 50's. The cottage we stayed in was charming. Very clean, bright, beach decor and convenient.
The bed was so comfortable! The staff was friendly, helpful and unobtrusive. Cozy little courtyard, even a beach on the small lake. We moved the last night to a two bedroom suite. It was huge! Again, clean, beach decor with cute knic-knacks all around. Delightful place!

I loved this place. The rooms are really inviting, comfortable and clean. The area where the Inn is located is very quiet and as a single woman travelling alone, I felt quite safe. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The pool was wonderful after a day in the sun. Close to everything, yet off the beaten path. I loved being close the the YMCA for yoga classes each morning. I look forward to my next visit.

The Marco Island Lakeside Inn is an outstanding choice when visiting the island for a short stay. (Many condos rent only for 1 month during Peak Season.) The 1 bedroom units are spacious with fully equipped kitchens. The accomodations are extremely clean and well maintained. The heated pool is delightful and the small beach on their "lake" is very pleasant. It's a 5 minute ride to a very nice beach (parking cost $6.) on the Gulf. There's a bike rental place around the corner. Biking is a great way to explore the island. This was our third year staying there.
