We recently spent a week at the Marriot on Marco Island. The property itself is kept in good condition. Their are two pools, with one mostly for families and little ones. The resort has two towers, with the North Tower apparently having been renovated. The South Tower, where our room was located, was nice, but not spectacular.

We received a King size room. For four people, it was a bit cramped. Four year old slept on pull out sofa. For some reason, the resort advertises itself as being family oriented, but has mini trash cans in both the main room and the bathroom. About two pieces of garbage can be placed in both. If you have diapers, bring bags and dispose elsewhere.

Pools are nicely kept. However, a bit of chair monopoly is employed by guests heading down early and marking their territory. While the hotel has signs that advises that 'unattended items will be removed', we saw chairs and umbrellas not being utilized all day, and they were located in front of the pool hut. Food and drink are both expensive. Alcoholic drinks run around 8 bucks, while a grilled cheese sandwich runs around $12, so bring the credit card.

Beach is also nicely maintained. The Marriot rents umbrella, which run around $18 a day, while chairs are complimentary. Or one can go down the road and buy an umbrella for $16 and just use that.

All in all, the resort was nice, but just a bit over the top with the prices.

We just returned home yesterday. When making your reservations, ask for the South tower . The view overlooked Quinns Pools and the great beach area. The South Tower was recently renovated with new furniture, bedding, etc. However, the big pillows you CANNOT sleep on. The other smaller pillows are quite lumpy. I did my research & printed out many restaurants menus on line with prices so we knew exactly where to go for dinners. Capt Brians - right down the block opposite the Hilton. Very reasonable, and also served breakfast. Breakfast Plus for breakfast - so many choices. However, you must go grab your chairs around the pool first. I am an early bird so I was out the the pool by 7:30 AM to grab our 3 chairs. We ate lunch inside at Quinns insde restaurant - many flies, very annoying and gross. Then we tried their pizza place - clean & good food but still ran about $45 for lunch. We stopped in at the local supermarket as pickup milk, oj and ceral and had breakfast in our rooms. You can ask for refrig. Also DO NOT touch the minibar unless you use it. My daughter just opened it and removed some of the items and put the back - we were charged for everything - had to call the front desk & have charges removed. Also, watch for double charging for valet versus self parking. Water sports very expensive. Overall, we loved it - the beach was clean and the gulf waters warm. Grounds are beautiful.

We were celebrating our 21st anniversary and wanted a clean, nice place on the beach. We recently stayed @ the J.W. Marriott in Orlando, FL, so we figured that the Marco Island Marriott would be nice too. We were very happy with our overall stay, the scenery was beautiful and the accommodations were very nice. The hotel staff was very friendly and courteous. Our room was very clean, neat and we had a great view of the Gulf(stayed in the beach front unit, directly overlooking the ocean in the South tower). We did however have a few minor issues:
Upon check in, I looked over our original room on the 4th flr, North tower, it was older and had a musty smell. I promptly rejected it and requested to be moved to the south tower. within minutes a bellhop arrived to move us and we were very pleased with out room on the 5th flr, south tower. Basically, I wouldn't recommend the North tower until renovations are complete.
If you want the best view and a quite room, spend the extra money and stay on the ocean front, south tower. It's by far the best view of all the rooms. I also advise 4th floor or higher to avoid noise from the pool area and again, you get a better view of the ocean. Sunsets are beautiful from the balcony!
Food: We purchased a package w/ the breakfast buffet and I highly recommend it, also, I highly recommend the dinner buffet too. It was very good and the line cooks were more than happy to make anything you didn't see, within reason.
We also ate @ two other locations, the restaurant next to the pool, it was OK. The other location was the "400 Pizzas", it was terrible, the worst tasting pizza I've had in years, very bland, no flavor & over priced to say the least, don't go there!
One very nice thing the resort did for us while there, was ask if they could send up some champagne & chocolate covered strawberries(@ no charge of course), that was really nice!

All in all, I give it a 4 out of 5 and would definitely return. I hope this helps.

We decided to get away for a weekend so we went to the Marco Island Resort. We've stayed at this hotel many times before. Wonderful and relaxing resort right on the beach. The rooms are clean and the service is great. We always enjoy the marriott buffets. They have a breakfast buffet that has everything you can ask for. For lunch we walked down to a pizzeria close by. Great pizzas! This is our weekend hideout when we need to go somewhere to relax and just enjoy a quiet weekend away from it all.

We booked a family vacation to the Marco Island Marriott and had a spectacular time. Here was our experience at the Marriott:

As soon as you arrive to the resort be prepared to enounter an extremely busy and crowded porte cochere, when we arrived it was so crowded that there was no bellman to greet us so we just unloaded the luggage ourselves, it wasnt a big deal but it would have been nice to have some assistance. The Front Desk staff was generally friendly and effecient at checkin and we recieved a beautifull "Tropical Resort View Room" which had a nice view of the Tiki Pool below and you could still clearly see the spectacular beach in the distance without spending hundreds more for an ocean view room. The resort grounds vey well-kept wtith beautifull landscaping and two great pools. But the big draw is the true paradise beach with its pristine white sand and warm gulf waters.

Unfortunatly the biggest downfall that we encountered was the service. The vast majority of the staff was very indifferent and didnt even greet us as we walked by them throughout the resort. Our worst experience was at the Quinns restaurant, the host and waitress were both very rude and unproffesional, our waitress didnt even attempt to smile once throughout our meal. We asked for a to-go box which she literally THREW on our table and disappeared after giving us the bill with no pen to sign. We were very upset with the service at Quinns and will never dine there again if we return to the resort in the future.

As far as value, be prepared to spend lots of $$$. We booked a Family Escape package directly with Marriott which included breakfast, a few speciality drinks, and a few other amenities but we had lots of difficulty with the little coupons that we had to use. We had to present a little coupon for each redemption and most of the time the staff did not understand and would use it incorrectly and over-charge us for items that were already pre-paid, this was somewhat stressfull and we had to walk down to the Front Desk multiple times to fix these issues. ALL the restaurants were $20+ per person even for breakfast and lunch so expect to spend LOTS of money on dining. And it seems that high gratuity is expected for EVERYTHING.

I recommend this resort because of the beautifull location, rooms, and grounds which cannot be beat. But unfortunatly do not expect good service and be prepared to spend lots of $$$.
