“QUALITY AT A PRICE”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2005

This was the first time we had stayed on Marco Island and were told the Marriott was 1st class so decided to stay there.
The hotel is excellent as is the beach miles of very white sand with(but watch out for broken shells) sun beds,parasols/tiki huts which are available at a price of $25.00 per day for up to four people.
Pool has lots of sun beds and parasols with no charge.
Our room was on the 10th floor in the North Tower, large room very clean(houskeeping twice daily) we had excellent views of the pool and Gulf, only snag we were right next to the lift, I asked to be moved but was told they had no rooms availible neither could we upgrade as all rooms are the same you only pay extra for the views?
Hotel is very popular for private business functions so rooms are always at a premium.
Food was very good from the beach bar,but not so good from the buffett dining room.
Most nights there is some sort of entertainment availible
Over-all our stay was good, all staff are friendly and very helpful especially John from the lobby bar who is a mind of information.

Hi my name is Christie and I just got back from the Marriott in Marco Island. I stayed for 7 days with my family of five. My husband and three kids, 12 and under. We had the best vacation experience! Everyone was satisfied at all times which made the trip very relaxing for my husband and I.

I must say that I disagree with a lot of these comments that are saying that the service wasn’t acceptable. To me, the service was fabulous and couldn’t have been better. They replied to every one of my questions with exactly what I wanted to hear. The concierge was very helpful too.

The pools were great! They were always kept clean and looked beautiful.

Here are a few tips to help you enjoy your stay at the Marco Island Marriott. BRING WATER SHOES! It will be very hard to walk on the beach with all of the broken shells without water shoes. In fact, I went down there with out them and ended up having to go to a near by store to buy a pair. Another tip is, you need to get to the pools early in order to get a chaise lounge. You can also get a tiki hut, but you have to pay for that.

If you are thinking about visiting this resort, you may want to consider the prices. If you are worrying about your budget at the time then this would definitely not be the place to go.

During your stay you might want to try Quinn’s. It is a great family place with great dinner food.

My family and I loved this resort and would take any chance we get to visit again. It is perfect for all ages. We didn’t want to leave!

Just got back from 5 nights at Marco Island Marriott and was very satisfied with the resort. We were staying on Rewards points and were upgraded to a gulf view because of Gold level membership. Room was nice and clean, updated and had all the necessary amenities. One small problem with hot water one day due to construction next door that somehow affected the Marriott's hot water. Had another small problem with getting room cleaned before 5 p.m. one day, but after a call to the front desk, the problem was resolved and they allowed me to specify what time I would like the room cleaned each morning. The food is very expensive ($9.00 hotdogs, $11.50 cheeseburgers, $18.00 breakfast buffet, etc.), but so is everything else on the island. The resort had many amenities that we didn't take advantage of, but my wife did use the spa. She stated that the spa staff didn't advise that by reserving a massage you were also entitled to use some of the other spa facilities for the entire day, which she would have used had she known beforehand (her appt was at 3 p.m.). The resort is very clean and well manicured, and the staff were generally helpful - however, very few of the housekeeping staff understood english. Marco Island is a beautiful place, a little crowded on Collier Blvd (use the other major streets to get around and you'll be much happier plus you'll see a lot more). Keewaydin Island is also a great place to visit, very close to Marco Island. Also check out Isle of Capri - small and quaint.

We've searched the country for years trying to find a resort we liked enough to go back to every year. We found it at the Marco Island Marriott. It's worth every penny! The resort and the island are very family friendly. There are other nice resorts on the island, but the Marriott has, by far, the best service and the greatest beaches. In August of 2004, we were chased off the island in the middle of the night by hurricane Charlie. We were extremely relieved when both the island and the Marriott Resort survived Charlie without much damage. We love it so much we're going back despite being chased by a hurricane

Just returned from the Marriott,Marco Island and had a wonderful Christmas break. The hotel is a large property but relatively quiet and relaxing.Rooms were a good size, equipped with fridge and tea and coffee making facilities.Service levels were as expected ,excellent,we could learn alot from our American cousins.Resort is fairly spoilt but if you are looking for winter sun it cannot be faulted.Good supermarkets and restaurants nearby but you will struggle if you do not own a car..Americans DON`T do walking which is frustrating.Visited the Everglades with a company recommended by the hotel ,"Vantastic Tours" ,which was quite dreadful..overly priced and saw poor animals such as turtles, snakes and birds in the most disgusting surroundings. The air boat ride is great so worth booking that yourself and travelling independently.Naples worth visiting as beautiful place and great restaurants and shops.Tipping still a major source of annoyance as quite often 15% added to the bill (Vantastic Tours guilty)without prior consultation...tips should be applicable when service levels are good ONLY....

This is my favorite resort. My family just stayed there over the new years holiday 2005. We have stayed there 10 or 15 times over the last few years and I have recommended this place to many of my friends and even taken a few of them with me. Marco Island is a wonderful laid back town nothing like the typical beach scene.

The Marriott just finished a multi-million dollar makeover including a new foyer, refurbished rooms, brand new spa and great pool for kids. We ate at Quinns on the beach which has a great sunset and tropics for breakfast which is the best breakfast buffet I've ever had. I can't give the place an excellent rating though just yet because of a few minor issues we had with our recent stay.

To start with, after we checked in it took 45 minutes for our bags to reach our room, no big deal except our baby bottles were in the luggage so screaming baby made time move slow and probably woke other guest.

We checked in around 10:00pm and mentioned we needed a crib (which was also requested when we booked the room) however it took 3 phone calls and a hour and a half to get a crib. So 11:30pm before we could put the kids to bed.

When the kids went to get a bath there was only 3 types of water...hot, really hot and extremely hot. They ended up having to get showers with slow running water to keep from getting burned. However we found just the opposite at the pools. Even though they were heated they weren't heated enough. When its in the 70's outside and there's a constant wind the pools need to be warm. They use to be, in fact my kids use to swim in the evening due to the nice warm water. On this visit however the pools were chilly leaving the hot tub full of the kids.

The other problem is that people go down to the new pool in the morning and place towels on all the chairs around the pool so when my family came down around 10:00am there were no available chairs, yet there is no one sitting in most of them and there isn't enough people in the pool to justify all the "taken" chairs. With a little monitoring by the pool staff this could be stopped.

(This use to be a problem with the Tiki huts down on the beach however Marriott is now charging $26.50 per day to use them, now on our latest trip there were plenty of Tiki huts available.)

On the main floor there is a wonderful coffee shop the only problem is they close at 8:00pm. It would be nice if they were open a little later in the evening.

It would also be nice if there were a few more stations on the tv for the kids to watch.

The walls in between the rooms are thin. So don't stay next to the elevator or ice maker. Also be prepared to spend some money. 4 of us had lunch at Quinns -3 hot dogs and 1 grouper sandwich with fries and soft drink was over $40 and the breakfast buffet was close to $18 per adult. This is not cheap place to stay; but worth it.

Final tips:check out the Snook inn for Dinner, sit outside enjoy the live music and look for dolfin, only 10 minutes from hotel; there are no reservations so if you don't want to wait get there before 5:30pm also there is a very nice shelling tour that leaves from the Marriott, kids really seem to enjoy, if you have time check out the airboat tours in the everglades, kids really enjoy seeing the alligators.

Lastly if your flying there, you no longer have to fly into Ft. Myers.(south west international airport) Delta airlines now offers 3 flights a day from Atlanta into Naples which will save you between 30 and 45 minutes of drive time. From the Naples airport to the hotel is only about 45 minutes, not to mention shorter lines and less time through security.

As I said before I love this hotel, its a place you can stay for days and never have to leave, it really is its own destination. I was especially impressed by the staff on the beach, and the people who took our reservation over the phone. We'll be back soon.

P.S. Went on fishing trip in the back waters with Six Chuters charter ($350 for 4 hours) great guides however only caught 1 fish. Guide said recent Tsanami has changed the tides causeing fish not to bite, don't know if this is true but if you plan to fish while you are there, before you spend the money you may want to check on how good the fishing is.
