We just returned from a five day stay with two teenagers. The resort is wonderful. The beach is huge, and we enjoyed drink/food service delivered to our chairs. The beach attendants deliver the chairs to the spot you pick on the beach. .We took long walks every day-great shelling. Had a nice dinner one night at Quinn's, which is great for watching the sunset. Cafe San Marco (like a Starbucks) located in the hotel is perfect for picking up coffee, pastries , fruit, etc. in the morning. We also went to the store the first day and stocked our fridge with oj , bottled waters, milk, etc. Had dinner one night in Naples (about a 30 min. drive) . Make sure you go to Stan's in Goodland if you are there on a Sunday afternoon (about a 15 min., drive from hotel). The food was actually good, and it is great for local people watching. The band was great also. Drove to the everglades one day and took the airboat ride with Speedy Johnson's. My two teens loved it. No, you don't see a whole lot of wildlife, but drive down the road to the state park area and you'll see lots of alligators, birds, etc. for free.
We used the fitness center several times. Pools got crowded, but we didn't mind since we prefer the beach(which is awesome). Our rooms were very clean. Hotel staff was excellent. We NEVER had any rude service. Quite the opposite, everyone bent over backwards to help us. Ok, yes, the resort is a bit on the pricey side, but what do you expect for high season on the beach in Marco Island at a full service resort? There are ways to cut costs as I mentioned above.
We have stayed at Marriotts in the US, Caymans, etc., and this is our favorite by far.

Let me get this out of the way first. This is a lovely hotel...the pools are wonderful, and the beach and views beautiful, you lie in the hot sun, and your cares just melt away. Especially if you're coming from a land of snow and ice, the blue skies and sun make you just feel better immediately.

And this hotel has all that. BUT, how much is that worth? This hotel seemed a bit overpriced. For example, in this day and age, who on EARTH still charges 14.00 a day for internet access? Especially when you're paying $500. plus for a room. And the room? It was all right. The bed was quite comfy, but the little fridge was...really little. The bathroom was a bit cramped and the weird texture on the bottom of the tub assured that you wouldn't want to actually take a bath there. Shower only. The closet was HUGE, though. Might have liked that space in the bathroom instead. The television was a bit challenged channel-wise...and I only know this because I was trying to amuse a toddler. The balcony view from our room was the front entrance (oh, and a towel someone had tossed on the roof, which was still there for all 5 days.) And we had the lovely "next to the ice machine" location. Kerchunk...all night long. There was a nail thing at the inner threshold that cut my foot. And a lovely red carpet stain in our adjoining room that we could only hope was from wine. IMHO the room was no better than a $200 room, even though it went for $995 in high season. (Seriously.) At these prices, I honestly expected better.

So, out of the room, the lobby is large and clean, there are the requisite shops, a cool sand sculpture, it was nice. The food however, was pedestrian at best...and horrifically expensive for the quality. The children's breakfast buffet was 10.00. Hot dogs went for around 9 bucks. Burgers for lunch go for about 15 bucks and the fries are cardboard. My "special" grouper sandwich with Key Lime tartar sauce was slathered in lettuce, but the tartar sauce was a small smear and the obviously frozen grouper was tasteless. The salads are horrible...drowning in salad dressing, heart attacks on a plate. But that's "beach food". They have actual restaurants. But sadly again, the meal we had in the higher end Kurrents restaurant was decidedly lacking. My scallops and lobster risotto were both undercooked, and the risotto dry and bland. The scallops were swimming in water, diluting the effect of the chutney sauce. (Oh, perhaps I should have dumped some of the scallop juice on the risotto?) Do yourself a favor and go off site to eat. Try DaVinci's down the road, it's excellent. Only wish we'd found it sooner.

Housekeeping was a bit hit and miss...unless prompted, they never refilled the coffee maker supplies, on check-in, we found no washcloths in one room, and for some reason, there was a serious dearth of wastebaskets. (Namely one small one in the bathroom.) On the plus side, the nightly turn-down lady was delightful.. She seemed the exception, though.

The pools...so wonderful and warm. But the pools can get crowded. If you can't find a chaise, you're hosed. I know they SAID they clear empty seats after an hour, but I never saw them do it. (And poor swimmers be warned, there are NO lifeguards...not even in the children's area.) There's a small playground, with a bench. And every morning, while dozens of groundskeepers trimmed and plucked, the slides and bench remained wet. I learned to detour and grab a towel on the way there.

But the ocean and the pools...yes. That was worth the price. And I suppose in the end, that is exactly what you're paying for. But having walked down to the public beach, it seemed the same sand and sun. If I hadn't been there with others who were attending a conference, then no, I wouldn't choose this place unless I was made of money and had no sense of quality.

Great Location on the Beach, nice decor, plenty of room at the beach but, crowded at the pools. Quinns is great to hang out at for drinks and the sunset. Kurrents was a nice dinner but a little overpriced. Within walking distance to some shops/stores. Watersports located onsite, the waverunner tour thru 10,000 islands was great, both teenagers (girls) thought its was awesome. Went on a pontoon boat w/Palm Breezes, also a great time. Overall a great vacation, although I did not realize Marco is so residential, not a lot going on along the beach as far as beach bars/happy hours.

Stayed here with wife and two boys (aged 4&6) for a week in August 2008 before spending a week at Marriott's property in Ft Lauderdale (see seperate review).
First impressions of hotel on pulling up/walking in were positive but at Reception that changed, with the woman behind the desk telling us in a 'couldn't care less kind of way' that it would be a couple of hours before our room was ready (this was 5pm in the afternoon!) or if we wanted we could have immediate use of an 'Accessable Room'.
Bearing in mind we had travelled from the UK on a 10 hour flight and had driven straight to Marco Island from Miami airport the last thing we wanted was to wait for a room so we took what she offered and thought that if the room wasn't suitable we would wait for our original room.
The Accessable room had very little storage space and the door to the bathroom was opened by a push button (imagine the fun 2 boys would have with that for a week!!) and was not what we wanted so we went back to Reception where I spoke with a very helpful guy who came from Peru (we got chatting about football) who got us another room straight away - how come he could find one and she couldn't? This room was fine - just like being in any other Marriott.
Later that afternoon I asked another person at Reception if she knew anywhere on the property that would be showing a soccer game on TV (my English team were playing an MLS side) she said she didnt but "there might be a place along the road" - no offer to find out!
Not wanting to walk we far we decided to just head down to the beach bar to have a drink and food and there on the TV's slung up behind the bar was the soccer!! However this was shown with picture only no sound as to quote the barman '"The live music will be starting soon", which it did after about 15 minutes but the screen stayed on - why couldn't the sound have been turned up for a while or even put on one screen that was far enough away from where the musician started his act from?
These plus a couple of other instances were just examples of poor service - be warned the staff in the on site coffee shop struggle to understand English (I thought it might have been my accent but I saw Americans getting frustrated with the lack of communication) but on the whole the property served as a great start to our holiday.
A couple of other points to note:
1) The sunbeds do get reserved early by people laying out towels and 'stuff' preventing others from using them and on a number of occassions nobody used them all day. Despite there being a sign at the towel hut, nothing ever got removed from the beds that
were 'reserved' but never occupied.
2) Unless you are a major fan of valet parking it is just not worth paying the fee - the parking lot is less than a minute walk away across the road (very safe to cross with little traffic) and it's quicker to collect your vehicle than wait for the valet at times of peak demand.
3) The pool that I would deem was for children (has a water slide and fountains) was occupied at the weekend by lots of adults without kids who were consuming large amounts of alcohol in the pool and being particularly loud - dont know if this was a one off or happens regularly but it prevented all the children from enjoying themselves as freely as they had on other days.
Don't mean for this review to sound full of negatives it's just that little things could have been done to make it a lot better - the resort is in a lovely location and is worthy of a visit.

We visited 2/10-2/14/09 on a preview for the Crystal Shores. We had a fabulous time, and I would highly recommend the Marriott to anyone/everyone. We have been to Marco many times, and have stayed at the Marriott 3 times. This was our first trip since the renovation, and were veryimpressed. Everything was fabulous, the room, pool, dining experiences, and the beach is - well - unbelievable. Quinns was a bit pricey for lunch. Our favorite breakfast/lunch place is NeNe's. Great food, and fabulous people. They are so nice, and the food is all very high quality and well priced. It about a 2 mile walk round trip, just down past the residents beach on the opposite side of the street. Go to the Marco Marriott and NeNe's if you can, you won't regret either. Gosh, it's making me sad we're gone.

I've been to the Marco Island Marriott in February every year for the last three on a work conference. The hotel is beautifully maintained with top class facilities. The staff are professional and helpful. The beach is great to run on. For a destination of it's type, I imagine it will meet or exceed most people's expectations.

Very nice hotel. Property is gorgeous and hotel is great. Several restaurants on site. Some can be quite pricey. Nice to sit outside at their grill and watch the sunset.

Pool is very large and heated. Was awesome to hang out in at night. Several hottubs around the outside of the pool.

We only left the hotel property once. That was to go to a comedy show.
