“Great place!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 18, 2008

We have just landed after spending a week at this hotel. It's great and I was unusualy impressed. It's says it's only a 4 star hotel but is probably 5 stars by UK standards.

It's more a resort than an hotel. Everything is new, the rooms are massive, people are warm. I highly recommend staying here with or without children.

If you are looking for a posh, relaxing and beautiful place to stay then stay here.

PS I had a walk around the Hilton on Marco Island - not a patch on this place...

We have stayed at this Marriott many times and have had a superb vacation/business trip each time. The restaurants are excellent; the beach is beautiful; the rooms are comfortable; and the staff is very helpful.

Just returned from a week at Marco Isalnd Marriott. Loved it! Felt like I had gone to a carribean island with all the comforts of home right in the area. Traveled with my family of four; 2 adults, 2 teens. This place really caters to families. Lots of kids while we were there. Also a conference /convention or two. The resort was actually much busier than I thought it would be. There seemed to be a constant stream of guests coming in and out.
The Marriott is a beautiful resort situated on a gorgeous beach. Although there were a few minor housekeeping issues, our room was clean and spacious with a nice view. We loved sitting and enjoying the scenary from our balcony. Staff at the resort were helpful and friendly, especially the concierge and front desks.
My one complaint is one that has been voiced by many others. This place is expensive and if you are traveling with a family it is even more so. Food and drinks were expensive. The first day we ordered 2 sandwiches and 4 sodas. The bill was over $40. After that we took a ride to Super Wal-Mart and stocked up on beverages, breakfast and lunch items. There was a small fridge in the room. Saved us money.
Pazzis, one of the resort's restaurants offered a good deal in which you could buy one of their insulated cups for about $6 or $7 and refill it with soda as often as you liked. Probably saved us a little $ and it was nice having cold beverages on the hot beach. Went out to dinner every night. Lots of nice places to choose from on the island and surrounding area.
If you have a vehicle you'll need to pay for parking ($10 + a day) and beach umbrellas/huts (as much as $20-35 a day)too. It just felt like we had already spent alot of money to stay at the Marriott. It would have been nice if they threw in an umbrella for the day! (There are umbrellas by the pool. Just be sure to get up nice and early to stake your claim if the resort seems busy).
Overall it was a really nice stay at the Marriott. We loved Marco Island itself too. Would definitely go back. Lots to do.

I'm not much of a beach person, but I stayed at the Marriott Resort for a conference in June and had a good stay. The public spaces (lobby, lounge, pool, conference facilities) are nicely decorated, and the guest rooms appeared to be recently renovated. Great breakfast buffet. Everything was very clean and the staff members were extremely friendly. The beach itself was great, with wide white sand and lots of shells. There was quite a bit of wildlife, too, with people talking about dolphin, ray, and manatee sightings right off the beach. This was the first time I've been anywhere where they have public service messages about shutting the drapes at night so as not to confuse the hatching baby turtles! If I wanted to take a beach vacation in the U.S., I'd definitely put this resort on my list.

Stayed for 2 nights over the July 4th weekend. A great idea next year to consider, fireworks shoot off from a barge in the ocean right outside the hotel. A lot of activites for families, but more than enough room for all types of vacationers. Stay away from the pizza its overpriced and disgusting. In fact everything is pretty expensive; from the food, drinks, beach chair rentals, and water sports. If you are a golfer I recommend a round at the Rookery. A van will take you the 10 minute drive to the course. Its beautiful with very friendly and helpful staff. A short walk down the road you can find better choices for lunch/dinner across from the Hilton hotel. The sand and the water is best on the Gulf. The flat screen TV in the room even has HD programming which I've never had before at any hotel. Pack a cooler with food and drink, bring your own beach chairs/toys, and you will have a great time!

  • Liked — Location on the gulf
  • Disliked — Food was marginal and overpriced. Great breakfast buffet.

This is a resort with a great tropical feel. The rooms were very nice, I had an ocean view close to the ocean, it was fantastic to sit on the balcony. The room is muted and pleasant, with a nice spacious bathroom/closet area. The hotel is very nice; it has a good combination of upscale feel with relaxed, casual ambiance. The main pool is pleasant to swim in, more interesting than the plain rectangle. The resort is well landscaped.

The hotel was absolutely beautiful. All staff members were friendly. The room was huge and comfortable. Of course, the food is overpriced as it is a resort. The potions were large, so we ordered one and shared, which saved money. There are many little diners on the island with good food and reasonable prices. The beach was beautiful. The only problem there was, as soon as the sunset, they collected the beach chairs, even if you were using them. The water was warm like bath water.

There are cute shops in the lobby including a great jewerly store with unique pieces. Don't forget to buy snacks and beverages to keep in your room and mini fridge to save money.

There is a great dolphin cruise called Sea Excurisions, Dolphin Explorer within 5 minutes from the hotel. It's a three hour tour and we must have seen close to 30 dolphins, and even a manatee. They also drop you off at a secluded island to collect shells. I highly recommended it and reservations should be made ahead of time.

I can't wait to return.
