“Amazing resort!”
Reviewed August 18, 2013 via mobile

This is by far the best and only place to stay on Marco Island. Yes the hotel is very large and it can be crowded at times, but the service and quality you get while staying here makes it worth it. The biggest pros to This place is: the cleanliness and the great customer service from the staff. Every employee greets you anywhere in the resort and make you feel welcome. The only con would be that the restaraunts are expensive and are not that great. Don't bother with breakfast there just drive down the road to Ne Ne's kitchen for a great cheap breakfast. The rooms are nicely updated and housekeeping was great everyday. I will definetley be back.

If you’re a couple looking to spend a romantic getaway in a hotel on Marco Island, don’t come here unless you’re OK with spending a lot of money for:

• a constantly crowded hotel with screaming kids running up and down the hallways;
• loud construction noise overhead and poor soundproofing overall between the rooms;
• crowded elevators;
• a crowded beachfront; and
• a room that’s really not much better than a Courtyard.

We made that mistake and I stupidly blew all my remaining Marriott reward points on this place for our summer beach vacation. Don’t believe the hype or the Marriott web site about this being a “resort” for couples to enjoy – while the hotel property itself looks stunning, there are so many negatives.

First, it’s a mecca for families with little kids. We literally were dodging kids wherever we walked. Worse, there were a couple of large families around the corner from our room who made a great deal of noise in the hallway, with loud talking, kids screaming and running, and doors slamming. The soundproofing here really stinks – we felt constantly assaulted by a combination of hallway noise, construction noise on the roof, the sound of footsteps above us, and even the antiquated A/C unit in the ceiling of the room (yes, a huge A/C unit installed in the ceiling) that was very noisy. The construction noise was the most annoying – at 9AM sharp each morning, the sound of drilling and hammering on the roof of the building reverberated in our room throughout the entire day. The sound was so loud that you could hear it when down on the beach, about 200-300 yards away. Of course, Marriott never tell us about the construction noise – instead, they put us in a room on the 7th floor in the very tower where the construction was occurring on the roof, just above the 8th floor. Guess that’s what you’d call a “you don’t ask, we don’t tell” policy. Not a smart way to run a luxury hotel “resort.”

Second, the room itself was really not much nicer than what you’d get in a cheap Courtyard. The bathroom, for example, was a simple tub with shower unit, and like some other cheap Courtyard’s we’ve been in, there was mildew on the grout where the tub met the wall tiles. Gross and cheap! The housekeeping staff even forgot to clean our room one day.

Lastly, the hotel was really crowded while we were there. Be prepared for crowded elevators and a crowded self-parking lot. Even the beach front real estate was competitive: you have to get there right when the chair/umbrella crew opens in the morning to reserve a choice, unobstructed spot on the beach front for that day. Otherwise, you’ll wind up sitting behind others who played the game better than you, got a choice spot and then promptly left contently knowing that no one else could use their chairs.

Our advice to couples looking for a more tranquil and romantic time together on Marco Island: rent a condo on or near the beach instead. There are many to be had, and the prices are competitive. Sorry Bill Marriott, but we’re sticking with Penny Pritzker in the future. Our next hotel stays will be at Hyatt Regency hotels.

Stayed for 3 nights and this hotel is amazing. Rooms are spacious and extremely clean, staff is friendly and helpful and the pool is spectacular with access right on the beach. Great experience, excellent hotel for a relaxing mini stay in our own little paradise!

Mixed review for Marco marriott from a very loyal Marriott customer. Marco Marriott is a very pretty place, with a beautiful easy accessible beach and spacious well appointed guest rooms. The problem is that they exploit this. The place was so crowded during the middle of August that you could not get a seat at the pool after 9am, and the pool attendants do nothing to help the situation. Since I find it hard to believe that the hotel was sold out in the middle of the summer at the price I paid I think they must offer cheap deals to Florida residents as well as sell pool memberships to local residents. The tiki pool was very overcrowded with young kids and the water was not as clear as it should be. The water slide is very small and really for toddlers. Quinn's pool is beautiful, but you could barely move in it either. I felt like I was at the nickelodeon hotel or a days inn, not a Marriott. When we walked down the beach to use the less crowded Marriott vacation club, we were rudely told to leave because "Marriott hotel guests" are not welcome at the "Marriott vacation club". I found this absolutely ridiculous. The food at Quinn's was very good, and the view is incredible.

We value your feedback and strive to provide all of our guests with a memorable experience. It is true that our resort over the summer break, especially the week prior to the beginning of school is a favorite designation for families. Understanding how popular our pools are, we strictly reserved their use for our guest only. We're sorry you did not find the experience to be to your complete satisfaction. We will relay your comments to our Director of Guest Relations in order to improve our guest’s experience. Thank you for sharing your comments with us.

This is a huge, full service Marriott that rivals any J.W. as far as service, decor, and luxury. Lots of dining options, nice pools, awesome beach, and many things for kids to do. Great choice for families or adult getaways. Leans more toward family resort. Would be nice to have adult only pool. Expensive prices, but quality and service were great. Would definitely return.

The Marco island Marriott is a very family friendly hotel. They've got a waterslide and a lovely beach that goes on for what feels like forever. That's how the water is as well. You walk in and keep walking and walking. I love this place!!!!!!! Also if you do come GO ON THE SAILING AND SHELLING TOUR!!!!!!!!!! It was the best part of my trip and I collected the coolest shells and our friendly guide helped us find them. I would do the everyday for a million years. SATY AT THE MARRIOTT

The hotel is very nice and the staff was so friendly we stay from 8/09/13 for 3 nights . Restaurant prices were expensive even more traveling with two children The best deal we found was the "Family Meal" at Pazzi's (1 Pizza, 2 Pastas, 2 salads), for $40.00 with drinks $50.00 The beach was beautiful , most people complaint about internet , but if you prefer to take a break from work that's the best , also they have some packages for internet , parking and umbrellas for $50.00 a day , the kids pool with slide worked out perfect for the afternoon I was traveling with a 5 and 3 years and they love it , also Saturday night , don't forget to see a movie by the pool it was really nice . we book a trip for the 10.000 thousand islands , Worth it , also the parasailing , we will do it again and again if we can , the best ever , Thanks Mark from Marco Islands Water sports and Marriot Marco islands it was an awesome experience .......
