“Room condition slipped a notch, bait & switch room type.”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

Second visit to this property, one year apart, both wedding anniversary trips. I was disappointed when I was offered a room with double beds. I booked a king bed in January 2012 using Marriott Reward points. As an alternative to a double, I was offered an 'upsell' suite with king for an additional fee of $150/night. Wasn't really interested, I spend plenty of money with Marriott each year and utilize my Reward Points as a peace offering to my spouse for all the time I'm away from home. I managed to convince the desk attendant to locate a room with a king, but I just felt that this interaction was a charade to upsell me.

The property has LOTS going for it, oceanfront on beautiful beach, grounds are lush and immaculate, friendly helpful staff. If you don't want to, you don't have to leave the resort. For breakfast you can enjoy an elaborate buffet or simpler coffee shop. Lunch is available at two moderate restaurants onsite. Dinner is offered at Kurrents with a more formal menu.

The spa appears to have plenty of services, and offers an expanded outdoor private pool area, it's just not my preference.

My only negative observation concerns the condition of the room, we were in #460 for 4 days. The shower shutoff valve is worn, and dripped continually. The shower drain was clogged and would fill up around your ankles during a quick shower. The towel ring had fallen off the wall, and the travertine tile on the shower walls had mildew growing in the recesses of the travertine. Kind of gross, needs some bleach. The carpeting also showed moderate to severe staining in the foot traffic areas. This surprised me. During our first visit, I had to spend some "office time" on the laptop in the room, and a facilities employee knocked and asked if it was OK to deep clean the carpeting. Impressed with the carpet condition the first visit, disappointed the second. I mentioned these items to the Front Desk manager during check out, but realistically, these are simple maintenance items that should be proactively managed by hotel staff, and should not be left to guests to discover during their stay.

Be aware of add-ons which can add up, wifi and parking fees among them.

I will return for future visits, the positives outweigh the negatives by a wide margin, however, I plan to conduct a closer inspection of room condition after checking in.

Room Tip: South and west facing rooms have the best views.

The Marriott resort is a class act beginning with the car porters and front desk receptionists. Upon arrival, there was a greeter in the lobby that knew my name from the car porter; very nice touch. All of the staff are friendly and outgoing. Be aware that there are 2 elevators - it can be confusing as to which tower your room may be located. The rooms are large and very clean - in the typical Marriott style. The white, sandy beach is amazing and within a brief walk from the back of the hotel. There are jet skis, grass huts for shade, a luxurious pool, and service with a smile. The work out amenities are very nice and clean. Upon arrival, you are in Paradise!

Room Tip: Room 1157 has a view of the beach, pool, and inner island. This is a large suite with a sitting are...

Fantastic hotel all around. Very attentive staff. Great kids pool with waterfall and slide. Great gulf views. Restraunts at hotel were solid. The rooms were spacious and clean. The arcade had some fun games. Kid camp was well run with fun activities.

The rooms are a little small and definitely dated but none the less very clean and well maintained. The hotel seems to be going through a mini face lift and one of the rooms we had booked had a view of a skip which rather took away from the view of the Gulf. Also the WIFI was down for two days due to some technical issue. These problems really faded away to just minor irritations when taking into account the whole package. The views are just fantastic, the service was first class (one of the receptionists even went to the trouble to lend me her laptop when the Business Centre was closed) and then there was the golf! The Marriott has two 18 hole golf courses about 15 minutes away, The Rookery was so good we played it twice and was excellent value for money. Although on the face of it this is a fairly expensive Hotel they do offer deals to offset this cost, In our case we had a $100 resort credit per night per room which went some way to pay for the golf and our evening meals on the beach.
If you plan to eat out in Marco, there are a number of Restaurants which Taxi you from the Resort and back FOC, in our case the Snook Inn.
Will I return ? Almost definitely.

Just spent 5 days at the Marriott. Lovely resort. Room was comfortable and had a nice view of the gulf. Plenty of chairs and umbrellas by the pool. Ate at Kurrants and had the most fabulous sea bass ever. Pricey but worth it. Highly recommend this hotel and would definitely return.

Beautiful hotel. Decorated wonderfully! Breakfast buffet is to die for. Both pools are kept in tip top shape. I love this resort and it is by far the best on the island. We were upgraded to a penthouse, which was GREAT. But since it was the weekend, everyone parties in the penthouses. We had a 4 year old with us as well. Although, after 1 call to the front desk, the party stopped. The walls are VERY thin

Room Tip: Get a room so you can see the beach. The best beach in the continental US

Just returned from a 4 day stay at this fabulous resort! What a beautiful spot to slow down and relax at.

The spa was fabulous, took their sail boat shell trip with Captain Shannon, learned alot and collected many shells.

The adult pool and Quinn's resturant were the best!

Room Tip: I prefer the Island Tower - the view of the courtyard, pool and beach are wonderful
