The Marco Island Hilton sits on the beautiful southwest coast of Florida overlooking the beaches of the Gulf of Mexico. We chose the Hilton for our 6 day vacation in June since I had enough Hilton Honors points to use for the entire stay. Although our experience was mostly good, there were a few issues. First the good:

The hotel is located at the south end of Marco Island, right on the beach and across the street from Marco Walk which had many restaurant and bar options. Parking was easy ($8 for self-parking). The lobby is nice and the hotel property is setup well with the pool complex in the middle, restaurants and meeting rooms at the north end and all rooms on the south end. There are two walkways to the beach: one from the pool area, one off the main hallway of the room tower. There are plenty of chairs at the pool (both in shade & sun) and there were complimentary chairs on the beach (umbrellas can be rented for around $18).

There are a couple of eating / drinking choices at the hotel: Paradise Café had a terrific buffet breakfast with cooked-to-order eggs & waffles plus French toast and many other items. Sandcastles is the more upscale choice but we did not eat there. You can order food at the Beach Grill and there is a Starbucks kiosk for breakfast. The bar at Sandcastles was nice with daily drink specials. However, the night scene was pretty quiet.

The rooms were large with two double beds, a refrigerator, two sinks (one inside the bathroom, one out), an HD TV, a couch with a queen pullout, a large desk and two chairs. There is a balcony on every room with two chairs and a table.

Now for some issues:

First, as mentioned throughout the reviews, there is major construction going on next door and it is noisy and an eyesore. Fortunately the rooms are heavily insulted that you cannot hear it inside but if you are sitting on the balcony in a south end room or on the beach, it is distracting. I suspect this will take another 6 – 9 months to complete.

Second, the workout room that is advertised as 4,000 sq feet is barely 400 sq feet. It was sorely lacking in variety. But a new spa and fitness facility is being built (also on the south side) that will be finished late this year. The tennis courts is now a tennis court due to the spa construction and is in poor shape.

For some reasons, the Hilton resort pools lack much imagination. Since the pool is a big part of a Florida vacation, having waterfalls and creative design (like the Marriott has a few doors up) would have improved the experience.

Lastly, the front-desk staff lacked the hospitable treatment that was shown in all other areas. We called ahead to ensure we got a room not facing the construction and said they would try but when we arrived there were none available. They offered to move us the next day – which they did to a 2nd floor room overlooking the walkway. As a Hilton Honors Gold member I would have expected better.

Great hotel. They have a state of the art business center. The food was rom very good to spectacular but can be a bit expensive. Exersize room was the size of one of the rooms which was dissapointing but a 10,000 sq. foot state of the art spa is being built that will include a big exersize room. Rooms were good but a little spa. The front desk was very nice and helpful. The pool was pretty good size. What most impressed me was the service and cleanliness.

Hotel is nice, staff friendly and helpful. Close to beach. Nice pool a little on small side but clean and not overly crowed.
The fridge in the room was a nice added extra and we enjoyed using it for our beverages. Rooms are very spacious and a nice bonus is an additional sink just outside / next to the shower; two people can get ready at once. Great for families

Most / all rooms have a balcony with some ocean view. Well priced without being over priced.

Lunch at the bar & grill was very good as well as the cocktails.

You have to rent an umbrella for the beach if you want some shade, the lounge chairs are free. Beach is nice and water is calm makes for great relaxing.

There are restaurants across the street if you decide to walk to dinner. But hotel is close to all restaurants.

This was my first stay on Marco Island after driving through last year. Living in Ft. Lauderdale, it's always nice to find a quiet nice beach town...and Marco fits the bill.

Hotel reservations were booked on the hotel's website and I booked the AAA rate (I'm a member). I'm also a Hilton Honors member...I suggest to sign up prior to booking your stay..it's free and you might get some extra special requests for your room.

The property is located directly on the beach and all rooms have a balcony. Currently, there is construction on the south side of the building (a new high rise)...so you will want to book a 'pool/gulf view' room. We did just that and got the best views I've ever had at a beach resort. Not only were we able to see the sunset from our balcony...we also could hear the 'live' entertainment. The windows were sound-proof ...

You get free beach chairs for being a guest at the hotel (umbrella is extra) and the pool is small...but nice. The lobby is well maintained as well.

The rooms are HUGE! We had a mini-refrigerator (so stop and get snacks) and had a LCD 32" or 40" TV. Nice! Self parking is $8 a night...a regular thing on the island. The hotel is right accross the street from a small strip mall with a movie theater and restaurants. The restaurants are 'ok'...typical beach/tourist places.

The breakfast buffet at the hotel was good..but a bit pricey. $19.95 each. But I guess that's the going rate everywhere. Only thing I didn't care for were the potatoes.

Sure...the Marriott is a much nicer property...but you might not get a nice view for your money there. The Marriott reminds me of a Vegas type hotel with shops, lots of dining options and great pools. It is a lot bigger and looks like there are more kids.

The beach is really nice and relaxing. If you go out at sunrise...you might get to see some starfish! We saw 3...and a stingray.

We can't wait to go back.

This is a beautiful hotel and MUCH NICER than the Marriott Beach Resort up the street. That place is simply TOO BIG. We had relatives staying there and they had to walk literally thousands of steps to the beach.

I much prefer the Hilton. The beach is beautiful, the pool very clean and not too crowded.

We did not eat at any of the restaurants because hotel restaurants tend to be pricey and medium to poor quality.

We were VERY HAPPY with Gunnar, our bellman. He explained everything about the hotel and even offered and brought us ice, which no bellman has ever done for me before, even in the Ritz Carlton!

The front desk was very courteous and overall, it was a very nice stay!
