What a pleasant surprise it was to dine @ Davide's (pronounced Daviday's) on Marco Island. It was the third restaurant visited this trip and was, by far, the best food & service we've had to date. We arrived w/o a reservation. Although it was crowded, two gentlemen we later found out were Davide's son and father pushed a couple of tables together and seated our family of 5 promptly. We ordered a couple of appetizers - Mozzarella Caprese & Antipasto Mixto - to share while our entrees were prepared. Both were fresh and delicious. The complimentary bread and fresh basil pesto were so good. We had to tell the waiter to quit bringing out more since my 8 yr old son kept snatching it the moment the basket was refilled & we knew he would not eat his dinner if that kept up. Our waiter recommended a nice bottle of wine to pair with our entrees. The best way I can think of to describe the entrees we ordered & enjoyed is the food was SUPERB. Authentic and fresh Italian. My daughter ordered the Pizza Quattro Formagio (4 cheese). It was divine. My husband had Lasagna Bolognese - it truly melted in your mouth (less sauce and more about the cheese). My Linguine con Vongole (linguine & clam sauce) was very good and the clams were fresh/in the shell. My son enjoyed the Polpetti (meatball sandwich) and daughter's boyfriend the spaghetti & meatballs. We were all too stuffed to eat dessert and had leftovers to take home, too. Not including the wine, our bill was <$100. Unbelievable! Best of all, the staff was so kind, courteous and friendly! We kept trying to guess who Davide was - a tough one since everyone we came into contact with took such obvious pride in the service and food - only to find out Davide & his wife were away for a short holiday. We felt truly pampered.
An added treat to the evening was being able to enjoy the live music and Davide's father singing several songs, including "Sweet Caroline" and "That's Amore." Everyone inside and out (including this family) joined in. I was extremely surprised our bill - not including the wine - was <$100. Unbelievable value and excellent food/service. What a great place too dine!
