Our first time here and we had a Fun day .. Weather was awesome. Island had quite a few boats and even a few that had food available. Relax in the water and enjoy the ride in the current. We will return absolutely loved it!!

My husband and I visit Marco every November and one of our jaunts is renting a pontoon to visit Keewaydin Island for the day. Shelling is fun, and every visit is different. We go in November so it isn't too crowded and spend the afternoon.

Keewaydin was kind of disappointing. It was SUPER busy and really crowded. We mostly stayed along the ocean near the tip of the island, and our visit was a short one. As I said, tons of people, but some beermonkeys were blasting loud fast latino rap or something, dancing grotesquely, thrusting their hips forward and making the beach a terrible experience. If the party is your scene, then have fun but in a family with young children I recommend South Marco beach. Now we were really only at the tip of the island where it was busiest, but maybe if you go down far enough it might be quieter, I really can't say though. The current was strong near the tip so it wasn't very good for swimming. Sometime I'll go farther down, it seemed like a decent beach away from the party, I really can't say though.

Docked our pontoon boat here so that we could swim, snorkel and relax. Found a lot of nice shells here.

We went to this island as part of a Sea Shelling tour. The beach is beautiful and the water was warm. You will want to have water shoes tho because of all the sea shells on the beach can hurt your feet as you walk. We found so many shells, it was a great trip and Captain Chaz was the best!!! Will definitely do this one again.
