This was a great experience for us (2 adults) and our two daughters (10 and 8). We learned a lot about the local dolphin community and how they live. We saw at least 10 dolphins, including a mother and calf. Our guide, with a degree in marine biology, helped us identify each dolphin that we saw. We also had time for shelling and swimming on one of the small barrier islands. This is not a party boat experience, but a real effort to make a short but genuine study of the local dolphins. We enjoyed ourselves immensely.

Excellent hosts lead us out toward the Gulf of Mexico. We were all on dolphin 'look out' and apprehensive at whether we would encounter them!

3 hours and more than 24 different dolphin later, we were in heaven!

Captain Bob and James the naturalist gave our group of an incredible experience. We were 14 adults and 2 small children and along with two other small groups fit well in the boat. The 3 hour trip was incredibly educational and James' enthusiasm after working for years made us feel like our group was the best trip and his passion for the dolphins was infectious. definitely a recommended trip if you are in the area!

This tour was so much fun! During the 3-hour tour we saw many dolphin in their natural habitat and learned so much about dolphin from the Marine Biologist on board. We also saw a lot of native birds.

The Marine Biologist had a great camera and took some great shots of the dolphin and birds. During the trip, the boat stopped on a small island to allow us to pick shells and he took photos of each group. At the end of the tour, great photos were given to each person on the boat.

The boat had plenty of shade (for those of us who can't sit in the sun that long!) and they provided ice cold water bottles.

Highly recommend this tour!

Listed as one of the "100 Places that Can Change Your Child's Life" (National Geographic), the Dolphin Explorer on Marco Island, Florida, is an amazing experience. It's a three hour trip among the 10,000 Islands, in which small groups aboard a comfortable catamaran get to see dolphins in their native habitats. Aboard each trip a master naturalist explains, in plain English, details of the lives of the many dolphins that populate the waters around Marco Island. There's also fascinating explanations of vegetation of the Everglades area, and a stop for passengers to get on a beach, collect shells and have fun in the Gulf of Mexico. It's a remarkable outing for all.
The Explorer is part of an Environmental Studies Program which is now provided in schools in Pittsburgh, New York (Long Island) and Collier County, Florida.
