“Great Location on beach”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2014

Crystal shores offers a great location, right on beach in Marco Island.
Shame it is not up to the usual Marriott standards. Check in, located in a portacabin, with in experienced staff member.
We had requested gulf view, thinking we would have a sea view from inside the apartment.
We were allocated a room on the 8th floor, the lounge area was spacious, with floor to ceiling windows, looking out onto the neighboring Hilton hotel. We did have views of the sea, from the huge balcony.
We questioned the description of views from apartments, front desk have a colored chart showing what apartments are classed as side views- lower floors, and those classed as gulf view. Apparently anything described as view- with Marriott, is partial, and not full on. I think if the chart showing different views was displayed on web site it would aid guests in deciding which room to book.
Bedrooms seemed small and cramped, with little storage, compared to other Marriott properties.
The noise from the air conditioning unit, meant we had disturbed nights, also the ice box in freezer churning out ice during the night.
We could not turn off air con, as there was no fan in the bedroom. Maybe we should have taken ear-plugs!!
The gym was well equipped, located on the 14th floor, with great views over the ocean. But why locate on the top floor, when you have complaints from the apartment below, with noise from the treadmills etc, is beyond me!!
The preview units are located in a building in between the 2 small pools, surely the gym would be better in this location??

We ate at Stilts when we arrived, good burgers, lovely views over beach.
We wondered down to beach, and enquired about the 10'000 island jet ski tour, priced at 185$, seemed a little expensive. We walked along to regency watersports, in front of Marco Island resort. Same tour offered for 165$, our group of 4 took 2 jet skis and spent a fantastic 2 hours, with Matt, our guide.
Saw turtles, manatees, dolphins and eagles, highlight of our trip!

All in all, had an enjoyable stay, but will not return to this property, there are better Marriott's in Florida.

Room Tip: If you want views of the ocean, need to book ocean front. Avoid rooms either side and below gym.

We were a party of five forty-ish aged Moms who ditched our husbands, kids and jobs and headed to Marriott’s Crystal Shores for a four day Mother’s Day Weekend. We loved every minute that we spent here. This is a complete luxury property, pretty, peaceful and tranquil. It is conveniently located within walking distance to restaurants and shopping. We ate at the on-site restaurant Stilts twice and all of us enjoyed our meals. We had a two bedroom unit that was equipped with everything we needed. The rooms were spotless and the beds were comfortable. We especially loved the large terrace. The doors slid open all the way to expand the living room area. There were also very comfortable lounge chairs on the terrace. Our room had a lovely second terrace off the master bedroom and we had a side view of the gorgeous beach. The beach is outstanding, we saw dolphins as we floated in the gulf. We also enjoyed the time that we spent at both pools. One of the friendly staff members told us that the lounge chairs at the pools were brand spanking new. We were especially fond of the little flags that were attached to the lounges that when raised notified the wait staff of our need for more pina coladas! The zero entry pools along with the lack of stairs and steps throughout the entire property made me realize that this would be a perfect place for seniors to visit. There was a list off activities posted each day. For those that do not love the beach they also had outdoor movies at night, a ping pong table, hammocks and a giant chess set. They have a small fitness center up on the 14th floor that probably has the best view over the beach. We were served complimentary root beer floats or sorbet at the pool some afternoons. The staff and service exceeded our expectations. There were no insects, bugs or lizards. On Mother’s Day we each received a beautiful pink long stemmed rose – what’s not to love?

Crystal Shores is perfectly located in Marco Island, on a beautiful beach. Apartments are up to Marriott's Vacation Club standards, perfectly equipped, with an impressive balcony (really big!).
Swimming pools and activities are great too.
Air conditioning in my apartment was not working well, but still the beauty of the apartment makes you forget about such details.
The concierge is not good at all in organizing golf tee times around the area, but we worked that out on our own and played in really outstanding courses; most of all we enjoyed Fiddler's Creek and TPC Treviso Bay.

I stayed with my wife and two children (9 and 10) for 5 days during Easter week. I am not an owner so I rented per night through Marriott. As a Platinum member we were given a corner room on the 11th floor. As soon as we opened the door, everyone said "whoa!". The view was tremendous. The main living area had double doors to the balcony which slid open to double width. With good weather, we left these completely open most of the time. We felt the breezes and heard the surf.
The resort has two pools and never seemed crowded. Our kids quickly paired off with others their ages and proceeded to have a great week of fun and play. I had a blast playing with these groups as well. The resort has plenty of inexpensive kids activities which were all well done by the staff. This left time for my wife and I to have some quality time together as well. We walked back and forth from beach to pool numerous times each day. The beach is lovely with calm water. You do need to pay for umbrella and chairs. It was a little over $100 for the week (4 chairs) and felt like it was worth it. They set them out with our name each morning. My wife had some business to take care of the first two days and the staff was most accommodating in helping her.
The suite itself was large, comfortable, had a working kitchen with ample cookware etc, and AC, hot water, etc. all worked well.
We had a great time and will be back. Hope they don't mess it up with a huge expansion.

My review starts before we even got to the property. We were reached out to by one of the staff members. And while it may have been an automated best practice, they were quick to respond to any questions. We also had followup calls to make sure I had a solid plan for a great vacation. This property is in an unbelievable location. And when we got to our unit we immediately relaxed into a well thought out, very well appointed comfortable unit that had a view you didn't want to walk away from. It was easy to get seating poolside or for a nominal fee you can rent them on the beach and they will set them up every day with your name on them. It is a great walking beach.(beach shoes a good idea though - lots of seashells) Nice restaurant options nearby.

Beautiful sunsets every night. I had the pleasure of meeting the manager , who takes the business of leisure very seriously and wanted to make sure that we were having a flawless vacation. A week is a short time. But you feel like you establish relationships with your crew for longer than that. In the end we feel we were well taken care of in the lap of luxury. ...... Paradise. We will definitely make it back.

We spent a week in a two-bedroom villa on the 10th floor gulf side. The Villa was clean, attractive, comfortable, and had an amazingly large balcony with a view of the Gulf. There was also a second balcony off the master bedroom. I have stayed at several Marriott villas in the past. This resort is much smaller than most. There are only 67 units. There is always plenty of room at the pools. No need to get up at six in the morning to reserve a chair. The activity staff was amazing. They were friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to make sure we all had a great time. There were plenty of umbrellas by the pool and also Cabanas for rent. There was a waitperson who came around to take a drink and food orders right by the pool. The salads and appetizers and sandwiches were delicious. The restaurant, Stilts, was open for breakfast on the weekends. There were so many activities to do each day: water aerobics, shelling, bingo, Boot Camp on the beach, movie at the pool, wine and cheese social, etc. Highly Recommended.

Room Tip: Higher floors are recommended.

As a long time Marriott owner, I would rate this property high. It's small which is great when traveling during Spring Break. No savings chairs needed at this resort. Very well maintain, and nicely decorated villa's. The staff was excellent and the GM was visible on property and willing do discuss any issues. Two pools, one with a great slide for kids and adults. Check in was fast and simple, we arrived early and our Villa was ready. Beach is wide, but I suggest pool shoes for kids as the beach is full of shells. We will be back as we enjoyed the resort and Marco. I highly recommend taking a waverunner tour and renting a pontoon boat for the day
