“Disappointing time share...”
Reviewed January 26, 2013

We visitied the Marriot's Crystal Shores time share with friends. It took them extra points to get into this one and we were all very disappointed. Bedrooms were small and the drawers even smaller. Service around the pool was non-existant (one day). North facing units received no sun during any part of the day. Our friends that own the time share said it was the worst one they had ever been to. Pool chairs will kill your back!

Room Tip: Choose a room that faces the ocean

What a great, beautiful, quiet place. We just got back from 4 days at Crystal Shores. The staff is awesome and so polite. The condos are huge and stocked with everything you might need for a great stay. The resort was clean and fresh. We enjoyed ourselves so much we didn’t want to leave. Erin the concierge was great and steered us in all the right directions. We went on the 10,000 island Dolphin Eco tour, if you can you must do it.

Room Tip: Seventh floor has just the right location to view the ocean and the dolphins. We had a corner unit...

Stayed for 2 nights using Marriott points. This was a quiet and beautiful property. I cannot say enough of the staff. All very professional, and very friendly. They had several free activities, like wine and cheese event. I also liked that the property focused on being "environmentally responsible". It was an amazing stay.

We had a beautiful too floor view. Large balconies with huge sliding glass doors and fabulous views. The room was very large and comfortable. We slept with the door wide open and fell asleep to the sound of the surf. It was a very quiet resort. Nice bar/restaurant - casual and has a great view of the gulf but it closes at 9:00 pm. My only complaint was the maid came at about 5:00 everyday which was about the time we cam in from the beach. There has to be a better time - how about mid to late morning.

I have never stayed at a Marriott timeshare property before but have had my eye on this one for a while. The apartment style accommodations looked really nice on-line and the deck and views were so enticing. During peak vacation times, I could never get a room but one night I was surfing the web and an oceanfront two bedroom came available. I was beside myself! So I booked a few nights.

Check in was fine, the front desk personnel were very friendly. They gave us information regarding the property and surrounding areas and were open to questions. We brought our luggage upstairs with no problem. The elevators were a little slow but not a big deal.

My first issue was with the door to the villa. It was extremely heavy and had no spring to ease it into the closed position so, it just slammed shut. You couldn't leave it open to bring items in or even have the time to leisurely walk out the door. Having little kids made this really dangerous! If you weren't careful you could get your hand crushed in the door, enough to do some major damage. I got hit in the back of the head before I realized the issue. Next, the master bedroom was SO small. There were no luggage racks to put your suitcases on and not a ton of storage. To walk around the bed, you had to shimmy sideways and I am not a big person. The master bathroom was really depressing. It looked like a hospital bathroom with awful lighting and not a great layout. The bathroom that was for the guest bedroom was nicer.

The living area was fine but seemed smaller than what was shown on the website. The best part of the room was the huge deck and the views. That is really what made the stay worth it. Gorgeous sand and sunsets but you can't spend your whole time on the deck.

Housekeeping came super early one morning and my husband told them we would be leaving in 20 minutes so they said they would come back then. Hours later when we were done with our day, we returned to an unmade room, no new towels, toilet paper, etc. When we called to say we had not received housekeeping and they said they were coming back, the front desk said that is not possible, once you pass on your time, you go to the end of the line. Well, if they would have told us this, we probably would have let them start while we were still in the room. A little inconvenient.

The pool was nice but there is a gate that EVERYONE walks in and out of and it SLAMS shut so forget trying to relax and read a book. I was so aggravated because it really was totally impossible to ignore the noise. One day we propped it open and had a beautifully peaceful hour and then security came and closed it. This was kind of ridiculous because there is no lock on the gate so why not keep it open. Either have a keycard entry so only guests can get in or save us all the headache and leave it open or better yet, FIX IT!! There were definitely random locals coming in and out with chairs using it as a pathway to the beach and using the bathroom.

The beach was nice but there is a charge for chairs and umbrellas.

Stilts had some really good food and drinks and a nice waitstaff. I feel for the price we paid the quality was average and the amenities were mediocre. I would not stay here again and it is a shame because such a beautiful stretch of beach.

This is the most beautiful of them all! Get a gulf view condo...end unit. You will be amazed at the views, the service, the sunsets. All the units offer an amazing wide veranda, but the end units have one that wraps around to the master suite. Granite countertops, European cabinets, a "horizontal" view, versus a "vertical" view like most timeshare. Best part? The sliding glass doors slide into themselves and you have this huge expanse of open air to the gulf.

Room Tip: Request an end unit.

As expected Marriott provides the perfect balance of excellent accomodations, pool and beach facilities and family activities. The resort is not to big and has a nice mix of shady and sunny pool areas. We love the gulf front villa designs with the sliding glass walls that open the entire living/dining area to the gulf front balcony. Beach attractions available right in font of the resort including wave runners, parasailing, hobie cats and more. Easy to find teh perfect pool side seating and no need to "save spots" in advance, plenty of good chairs available anytime of day. Marriott as always has an abundance of well trained friendly staff that made us feel welcome. We love this resort and plan to keep it on our short list of favorites.

Room Tip: We prefer the corner Gulf front rooms to the center units, extra balcony space that wraps around the...
