“Don't stay here...filthy..dirty...uncomfortable and disgusting”
Reviewed September 27, 2009

We stayed here because it was advertised as the cleanest place in paradise. Well it was filthy. The place had rust and mold everywhere. The shower head was all rusted. The beds had broken springs and everyone rolled to the middle of the beds. The pillows were dirty and thin. The linens looked worse than anything you could buy from Goodwill. And it is advertised as a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom suite when it is in fact a double wide very old run down mobile home.

We visited the Siesta Hotel and used it as a base for our time at the Keys. Our room was superb with a fully equipped kitchenette and a BBQ place behind the room. The room was clean and well equipped and Frank is a good old chap.

Great stay for the price. Clean rooms, friendly service, great location!
We (a group of old college buddies) enjoyed saving a few bucks and BBQ in the picnic area. There was a great bike trail and fishing close by.
What can I say? Great time! Will surely be back next year.

Recently went on a trip to this hotel, expecting not the best of accomodations, but found even more shortcommings with our stay. A group of friends and I had reserved a non-smoking room, but when we arrived the place was overbooked, so we were put up into an "upgrade". However, when we went inside the trailer next to the motel, we found the carpets to be dingey, the refridgerator rusted out, the bathrooms orange and yellow, and the rooms in terrible disarray. The motel is right off the highway and at the end of an airstrip so you constantly have noise during the stay. The travel guide also lied that they have two pools: there is a pool you have to walk a ways down to, and we were informed to "act naturally" as if we were staying at someone else's hotel. Not only were there a shotty piece of wood locking the back door and a dirty mop and bucket strewn about, but a coat of latex paint had recently been applied, and so our companion with asthma could not stay the night because of the fumes. Another friend allergic to latex had rashes appearing on their skin only minutes after entering and leaning on the side of the room. When we went to try to get a refund, the manager would not accept that there was a smell of paint, or any harmful chemicals in the air. In short he said in smug fashion, and I quote, "I'm going to get my money one way or the other". The manager is a complete slum lord. I wouldn't listen to the positive reviews for the Siesta motel, and I most certainly would not recommend this place to anyone.

My family has stayed at many a small, funky motel in a beach town. We have always had good luck. We were extremely unhappy with the Siesta Motel. The property is immediately adjacent to Hwy 1 and the Marathon Airport. Noisy is an understatement. Hwy 1 does not slow down at night. The trucks drove right through our room, or at least it seemed as though the did. The beds were uncomfortable and the room very small. The pictures posted on all the online sites do not represent the property or the rooms accurately. It was a big disappointment. We checked out first thing after a night of no sleep and went to another property that was only $10 more per night and a vast improvement. I do not recommend this place for anyone who wants to sleep.

We stayed at the Siesta Inn for one night in April 2009. I must admit, first appearances are deceiving. This "motel" is not about elegance or prestige. It's very much a bare bones, economy motel but for the price, it's more than acceptable! There isn't carpet on the floors, there is no clock (but one can be requested, I believe) - no frills, but it was impeccably clean and comfortable. There is no pool, nothing to "do" other than perhaps watch the planes land at the airport across the street, but for our purposes (just somewhere to sleep!), it was well worth the price.

The airport, though right across the street, really wasn't terribly noisy. There is quite a bit of road noise, but it's tolerable. The one kind of bothersome thing for me was the sparking and buzzing of the electrical wires that were directly overhead. I don't know if this was an isolated incident or if it's this way all the time, but it was a bit unnerving.

I would recommend this hotel for those who are ok with very barebones accommodations. If you make reservations with the knowledge that you won't have any "frills", you'll be satisfied as it is clean and comfortable. If you are expecting frills and 4-star accommodations, this isn't the place for you.

I probably would not stay here again simply because I DO enjoy a few frills when I'm traveling, but I wouldn't discourage anyone from staying here is budget is an issue and you don't mind "just the basics".
