“Something for everyone - take a class, see some art, explore some history, or just relax in your surroundings”

I'll admit I may be showing a little bit of partiality here, but I think Maitland Art and History Center is one of the best things going in Central Florida and Maitland. I've taken classes there for several years and haven't been disappointed in any of them. The instructors are outstanding and it's so cool to take classes in the facility that Andre Smith established for artists. The art gallery is small but enjoyable. The Maitland History Museum and the Telephone Museum, both next door, offer an interesting view into local history (the history museum) and telecommunication (the telephone museum). After visiting the telephone museum you'll be asking yourself, "wow, how did we get along without cellphones?"!

“Pleasant walk about gardens”
Reviewed September 25, 2011

While our respective spouses worked at an Orlando convention, a friend and I drove to Maitland Art Center early in the morning. The actual musuem was not open but the office was open and their curator gave us a verbal overview of the artist retreat. We then wandered about the grounds. Much of the outside art was either sculptured or carved out of cement with a definite Mayan and Aztec influence. There are several artists workshops but none were open when we visited.
