Perhaps, as Florida residents, we are spoiled. This place is across the street from the beach which is usually a deal breaker. Our stay at the Holiday Isles "Resort" was part of a large group event. We checked in on a Thursday, the lady at the front desk was very nice although the office area smelled strong of cigarette smoke. We went to our room, a one bedroom unit with a King sized bed. The space is generous, however, the decor is VERY dated. The kitchen consisted of a small four burner stove (which sort of worked) with oven, single sink, microwave and coffee maker. There were some utensils but they were old and bent. The fridge didn't work so the maintenance man, Cliff, removed it and brought another one in. No ice trays...bummer. Oh well a trip to the ice machine won't hurt. Wait! I have to pay for ice???? Yep! 25 cents per use for ice. OK well I will take a bag to fill up since the ice bucket is mismatched and only holds 3 cups of ice. Well darn! The ice machine cuts off after dispensing about 5 cups of ice. Sheesh! Luckily there is a 7-11 at the corner.

I notice a sign on the coffee table...$75.00 "deep cleaning" fee if you get busted smoking in your room. Ironic since the rest of the place reeks of smoke. Another sign above the sink informs me that if I leave any unwashed dishes in the sink I will be charged $10.00. Wait, is that another sign in the bathroom? "The hot water heaters are located in the back of the building, turn hot water on and wait a few moments". Now, I don't know what their definition of "moment" is but I like to take fairly cool showers so it was ok for me.

Let's go for a dip in the pool. GROSS! The pool, that looks to have been fairly recently re-marcited, is speckled with black algae. The coping around the pool is chipping and the pocks in the concrete are filled with algae. I wanted to take a scrub brush to the whole pool!

When our group had assembled at the picnic tables, we were informed by the staff that we were being too loud. The woman who came over to tell us that we were being too loud was louder than we were! Then she went on to tell us that we were fine. WTH???

I suppose if I had a dog and wanted to go to the beach, this might be an option. So if you are traveling with a four legged family member, you might appreciate this "resort". For me, this was my one and only stay.

Thank you for your review! We use our customer reviews to help us improve our service! The room you stayed in is actually one of our last rooms to renovate, and it is getting an update as I write this reply. We place helpful signage and information in the rooms to help our guests navigate our facility, understand our policies, and to supply information about our surrounding area. Any hotel I have visited had similar signage.

Our pool deck has been recently painted, as it was peeling around the edges you described. Unfortunately, it did seem to look like algae but was really just peeling paint. Because the pool had to be shut down for a few days for this to happen, it is customary to do this kind of work after the Labor Day weekend.

In spite of the fact that you did not like your room, we hope you enjoyed visiting with your group of friends, and we hope you will give us another chance to supply you with a room if you visit this area again. Thank you!

Stayed here during our most recent annual family vacation to Madeira Beach. The room was good, basically clean. I do need to say that I think our mattresses and box springs were original to the hotel, very old and one was quite broken down. Nothing has really been updated, but all the necessities are there, including a nice kitchen and decent bath. We didn't have any shampoo or amenities in the room, other than soap bars. We didn't pay for a five star hotel, and didn't expect a five star hotel. So, stay here, enjoy the extremely reasonable price, and being a stones throw away from the beach, restaurants and bars.

Thank you for your review! We use our customer reviews to help us improve our service! After seeing and hearing about a couple of mattress issues, we have changed out some mattresses lately, so we hope this addresses the problems. Since we never have time to sleep on our mattresses, we rely on your feedback! :) Thank you again, and we hope to see you in the future!

We took our family to Madeira Beach for a small weekend getaway. 3 adults, A 7yr Old and A Doggie! We stayed here for 2 nights and 3 days. Family owned and run. The room was a 1br with small kitchen, livingroom w/2 pull out couches. The room was the most affordable with the pet friendly option. All tho not right on the beach, Just a short walk accross Gulf blvd and your there. The room smelled Very clean and looked kept. Small sitting area outside of your door with 2 chairs and table w/ ashtray, which was always magically cleaned:) The staff and guest were great and very friendly. The rooms got very cold, which is nice after being in the hot sun. The building has new paint and a very cute turtle pond out front. The pool was very clean, patio and chairs well kept and a bbq/ tiki covered area just off to the pool side. We Were very happy and relaxed with our stay and will come back.
Not to many, but wanted to inclued some con's to make it fare:
The pool may need rentovating (but clean)
The Parking Is Kinda hard to get to, you have to drive past the resort, pull thru an old carwash and park behind the building.
Not Handicap friendly, lots of step ups
The resort accross the street has very nasty staff! DO NOT WALK THRU there parking lot to reach the beach, Find another way around they will call the police! very crazy lol. Better to ask before you head out or drive the half mile to the public beach access parking area! no problems there.
Most things are all a carte. like daily sheet changes, room cleaning and replacement towels. I suggest check there website fully before you go!
Overall, It Was A Great Mini Vaca and Would Go Back! Love The Pet Friendly idea!
Also plenty of places to eat and drink near by! Hope this helps!

Family of 5 plus our dog. Clean, friendly service, pool, turtle pond, did I say clean? That part was impotant to us and the cottage we rented was just that! This old family style, but remodeled hotel was a great find for us. We had our own private fenced yard. We stayed a week and this place was perfect. I'm a big guy and always dread the hotel beds, but our king size was comfortable. Highly recommend the cottage. Thanks for a great vacation!

Thank you for your great review! We always love to see our guests bring their "extended" family members (the ones with paws!), and we like them to feel at home. The cottage is especially nice for a family with pets, since it has its own fenced yard, and we are glad you enjoyed it! As always, we strive to be the cleanest and most affordable hotel in the Madeira Beach area!

Just returned from another great vacation at Madeira Beach. Have been staying at this same hotel for years. Great location and value, cant wait to return. We arrived earlier than expected and was able to get into majority of our rooms right away, and all were done before promised. Rooms have always been clean, management always willing to go above and beyond to make stays great. Hope to return before this year is out.

What a wonderful surprise this hotel was. Location perfect right across street from beach ,1.4 miles from John's Pass ( pier/boardwalk shopping ,dining area)Proprietors were an amazing couple friendly, smiling ,and so informed about area we were there 3 nights/4days( they give a 4pm checkout time:) ) on an important baseball event for our son ,The gentleman that owns the hotel gave on the mark directions to everywhere we needed and wanted to go down to parking such a stress relief being in a new town. The hotel was immaculate clean inside and out! Personal touch I wanted to mail postcards to my grandkids The owner offered to take them to town post office on his errand ( the grandkids thrilled when received them)The best stay ever in a hotel they make you feel like invited family. My son &his girlfriend college 23yr olds said " you did good mom this is like being at home" Their pool warm & clean, fun lots of pool toys for your little ones and a fun turtle pond to watch. The only regret is my daughter,son-in-law and grandkids weren't with us to enjoy this stay.Would I return? Absoulutely!

Communication A+ - made our check-in virtually easier than any other, especially at 4AM. Went above and beyond to be there literally whenever, for whatever we needed. Our host(s) were completely and simply amazing - friendly, considerate, informative, recommended the attractions that were worth what they charged if there even was a charge. I will definitely promote this facility as it was done to me, and will be back myself. Our party was told that we would be missed once we left!
