We visited my aunt who owns a Madeira Beach property. She and her husband are members and frequently visit the post to enjoy a meal and nice night out on the town. After having had dinner at the post, I can understand why they are smitten with the place. You do not have to be a post member to enjoy the food and charming atmosphere, but a member must purchase all alcoholic beverages. There is a large indoor area with A/C and plenty of tables to eat and mingle with the friendly guest. This room had a disc jockey that fired the crowd up with great music. Most of the participants (no matter how old or young) could be seen dancing and having an obvious great time. My party sat outdoors at a boardwalk like venue. It was a strikingly beautiful evening to be outdoors and sitting within feet of the Gulf of Mexico. The sun gleamed brightly off the crystal clear water, while boats rode by. There was also separate music on the outside boardwalk which was upbeat, but not annoying. These wonderful features were set into a baby blue sky with spectacular puffy white clouds. My aunt almost didn't take us to the post because she wanted to take us out for an expensive meal and felt embarrassed by the relatively modest food prices. What a mistake that would have been. The list of menu options was minimal in its choices, but did have something for just about everyone. The portions were of decent size and the food was more than acceptable. The waitresses work had to satisfy your every need and frequently stop back to see if you need drink refills or anything else. All of the staff appeared friendly. If you're looking for a decent meal at a reasonable price with B+ entertainment and A+ atmosphere, don't miss trying the American Legion Post 273.
