Owner description: The "Pass", as locals refer to it, was created by a hurricane on September 27, 1848. A pirate, John Levique, made the first passage through the newly created pass. Hence the name, Johns Pass. Located on the waterfront at Johns Pass, this quaint turn-of-the-century fishing village is Pinellas County's #1 tourist attraction. Over one hundred merchants inhabit the Village with unique retail shopping, a variety of restaurants, the local fishing fleet, dolphin watching and shelling tours, boat rentals, parasailing and jet skiing.

Lots of cute shops. Much larger than it appears from the road. Cute places to sit for a drink and to "people" watch. Yummy frozen custard. Even an old-fashioned arcade!!

We ate, walked around and had a good time. Lots to see and do. Pelicans everywhere. Walk over the drawbridge for some great views.

John's Pass was shown to us by friends and we were so impressed that we went back to see what we missed. The shops are touristy but there is a variety for everyone. The prices in most stores are very reasonable and it is a must to do the whole strip or you will miss stores like "The Leather Shoppe" that has outstanding prices. There is a variety of eating places sure to please everyone. There is a paid parking lot that most times is not hard to find a spot. This area is a must to visit

We have been coming to Mad. Beach on winter vacations since 1985. John's Pass has always been a favorite place for our family and this place has something for everyone. Cute gift & souvenir shops, restaurants, snack shops, bars, cigar shop, watercraft rentals, charter fishing, dolphin watch cruises. We typically go 4 or 5 times in a week because our condo is across the street, but there is plenty of parking for those driving to the area.

There is a boardwalk along the water where you can watch boats come and go, see dolphins playing, watch the drawbridge, and some great people watching too.

Don't miss this fun place when visiting the Gulf beaches.
