“Wonderful Place to Visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2013

Had never been there before even though I live in Orlando, till invited by some friends. Nice peaceful camping and river area, canoes and kayaks to rent, beautiful scenery. We had a great time staying in one of the cabanas with available grill and the bar and restaurant nearby. Rented a canoe and we all shared it. Even if you have no experience canoeing it was easy and fun. Its just a dollar $1.00 to get in, and about $20. for the canoe for all day! Very long peaceful river you can canoe for hours if you like and even visit other nearby parks by canoe! Only thing I didn't like is too many dogs! That might be a plus if you are a dog owner, but we didnt like having to walk around carefully on the beach or grounds because of the dog poop thanks to careless dog owners who dont pick up after their pets.

“Almost perfect”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2013

The kayak access is a pain in the but, and a bit dangerous for the uncoordinated (me). The bar is a nice place to go at the end of a paddle, even better if there is a food truck there. Overall a good place to spend a day, just wish the ramp was not so slippery.

“Don't rent a canoe here.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 21, 2013

The views and area are lovely. But I do not think that they have a proper docking area.
The canoe I was given was in the water and it was very difficult to get in. As I was getting into the canoe it moved from the dock and I fell in the water. Even though the water is not deep. I was very badly bruised and the staff member on the dock ignored me. I had a very difficult time getting back unto the dock. If you want to rent a boat go to the State Park. The facility is much better for getting in and out of the boat. I'll never rent from them again.

“Paradise Perfected”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

Originally the location of a seafood restaurant on the Wekiva River, that burned down in 1989, new owners Bill and Mary Weinaug have transformed this tony space into a virtual "green" oasis. Everything you need for a day on the River is here. A long line of adirondack chairs line the boardwalk, a full service bar for cold drinks, good beer and wine selection, a food truck that serves amazing dishes (even vegetarian) at a great price, and canoes for rent. Lots of pik nik tables as well if you pack a lunch. The parking is close. The restrooms are designed from found materials, (beautiful), and there is even a vollyball court. On cool nights, the staff lights a fire. There are also cabannas for rent. An "award winning green design" educational center has been added as well, made from the boards from the old boardwalk. This is a "don't miss." Very close to the Wekiva State Park, you can easily canoe to the springs. No admission fee. No coolers or alcohol allowed.
