The kayak access is a pain in the but, and a bit dangerous for the uncoordinated (me). The bar is a nice place to go at the end of a paddle, even better if there is a food truck there. Overall a good place to spend a day, just wish the ramp was not so slippery.

A surprising oasis with board walk, cabanas, bar, swimming, watersports, and AMAZING bathrooms! Beautifully crafted establishment.

“Don't rent a canoe here.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 21, 2013

The views and area are lovely. But I do not think that they have a proper docking area.
The canoe I was given was in the water and it was very difficult to get in. As I was getting into the canoe it moved from the dock and I fell in the water. Even though the water is not deep. I was very badly bruised and the staff member on the dock ignored me. I had a very difficult time getting back unto the dock. If you want to rent a boat go to the State Park. The facility is much better for getting in and out of the boat. I'll never rent from them again.

“Paradise Perfected”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

Originally the location of a seafood restaurant on the Wekiva River, that burned down in 1989, new owners Bill and Mary Weinaug have transformed this tony space into a virtual "green" oasis. Everything you need for a day on the River is here. A long line of adirondack chairs line the boardwalk, a full service bar for cold drinks, good beer and wine selection, a food truck that serves amazing dishes (even vegetarian) at a great price, and canoes for rent. Lots of pik nik tables as well if you pack a lunch. The parking is close. The restrooms are designed from found materials, (beautiful), and there is even a vollyball court. On cool nights, the staff lights a fire. There are also cabannas for rent. An "award winning green design" educational center has been added as well, made from the boards from the old boardwalk. This is a "don't miss." Very close to the Wekiva State Park, you can easily canoe to the springs. No admission fee. No coolers or alcohol allowed.

“Enjoyed VERY much, off season!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 31, 2013

We stumbled on this rental option for kayaks because the State Park concession didn't open until 9 on the day we chose. We started with a rather outrageous breakfast sandwich on the dock (not the bar, but a tiny trailer), and got two kayaks in the water by about 9. The bird varieties in the put-in area were encouraging (we're casual birders), the water was clear and full of fish, the banks full of alligators. We ran across an unconcerned river otter on the Rock Springs branch. Most of the wildlife is very cooperative as long as the river isn't full of boats. A great, easy paddle with beautiful scenery. Only proviso is that the launch is a dock and, if you don't have someone to push in the last boat, it can get interesting to impossible. A kind man came by and helped us; there was an employee at the dock when we returned later, who simply pulled us right up on the dock!
