This hotel is very clean and has everything for to enjoy a good time: the most gorgeous beach at the golf of Mexico, nice pool and great restaurants for a family o a romantic dinner. The location is also convenient for shopping and restaurants.

Room Tip: I love suit rooms, it has a seating area with kitchenette and a large balcony

I am so sad to be writing this review because I have been visiting the Longboat Key Club annually for five years and always had a good experience. I am sorry to say that this property has gone downhill since new management took over last year. My husband and I checked in for a few days for leisure. The rooms were dirty, the service was terrible and the overall experience was so drastically different from previous years that we almost checked out of the hotel. The rooms are in dire need of refurbishment, but at the very least the hotel should get a cleaning crew in there and give each room a deep cleaning. There was dust everywhere: behind the beds, in the drawers, behind the night tables and on the mattress (I checked). I have included pictures of the drawers (notice the hair) and the light switch (notice the dust) taken on the day we checked in. We used to love going to the property - please bring the old Longboat Key Club back!

Room was a nice size with microwave and refrigerator. On first entering the room looked really nice but after being there a few days it became apparent that it needed to be updated. The beds were really hard and uncomfortable and had to call for a foam pad to be put on the bed. Also found cheerios behind the night stand when I plugged in my charger.

This hotel has a great location! Very clean. Only thing it is need of updating. Still in the 80's. Rooms are big. Staff is very nice and helpful. Registration gal upgraded us to a suite which was very nice to have two seperate rooms with kids.

Second visit here. Club suites are perfect for 2 (bathrooms a little dated but fine). Ocean view is spectacular--breakfast on the balcony was perfect (made our own--Publix is right up the road a few miles - near the tennis center). Housekeeping was excellent--no issues at all. Easy to arrange tennis lesson and matches with a little notice. Lunch at tennis center was fine. Pool area tends to get crowded, especially with families, but plenty of room in pool and jacuzzi. Towels are plentiful and beach set up crew very pleasant. Short drive to downtown Sarasota where there is a good choice of restaurants and theater. Overall a great vacation week at a very comfortable venue.

We have been long time fans of the LBKC & this resort has been one of our favorite Florida properties. We've stayed here for years, usually in the two bedroom suite for two weeks at a time. This time we stayed in a one bedroom suite with a full kitchen. The balcony & views are beautiful & the room is well appointed but wear & tear that should be easily fixed is really showing. The resort is in a good location & offers free beach set up which is a plus.
BUT....it seems that this resort is really declining in customer service. I was absolutely embarassed that we had recommended this to friends that came with us as well & reserved a two bedroom.
Each day our room was literally left dirty after house keeping. We had never had this problem in all of the years of visiting. We had a broken closet door & left it hanging open to see if anyone would care to close it or even notice. That did not happen.
The food - horrible! The first day that we arrive we were so thrilled to be back again. We've eaten on property more times than I can remember. We ordered blackened grouper among other things. The fish was as white as snow with not one speck of blackening & the waitress debated with our table that it was blackened! It was as white as this screen. In customer service you should never debate a customer & you should certainly not lie to an entire table that can see quite clear.
Room service - for three mornings in a row we ordered room service & had to call four times to try & get everything from silverware, coffee cream (they delivered powdered packets), coffee that was not cold, they would forget things we had ordered, the eggs were usually raw & not cooked properly. We were just shocked. The last day we ordered breakfast we gave up after calling & having the room service runner bring up missing things four different times. This was normal every single day.
The worst part.....the staff is not educated on their menu nor their gluten free items. It clearly states on the childrens menu that there are gluten free items. The first day we ordered these they were fine & the kids enjoyed them. On another day we gave order in great detail to the waiter. After waiting for almost two hours & asking repeatedly about the order we recieved a parital order. All of the food was cold. My daughter had the gluten free pasta & after eating it broke out in hives & felt bad. She was having an allergic reaction to the gluten. We are sure that they gave her regular penne pasta. The manager compted our entire lunch, thankgoodness after two hours & being served wrong food. I cannot tell you how upset I was that my daugther was given food that made her ill. This has never happened at any establishment listing (gluten free) foods. And we've dined & stayed at resorts around the country.
There are not enough servers on the beach. We've always been & had great service, this time is was quite different.
We have recommended this property to MANY friends & family over the years but we really saw a decline in the property up keep, service, food quality, & general care of the rooms.
Upon checkout $200 was deducted from our bill for our bad experience.
We may be willing to visit again & if we do, hopefully my next review can be of a much more positive experience like the past.

We moored our 37' sailboat there one night last November. I'm reviewing the Marina since the Maria itself does not have an identity of its own on Trip Advisor.

We were on our second day of a four-day sailing trip, bareboat starting in St. Pete. We found refuge in this little gem (well it's not little) and we very pleased. A little more costly than most of the Marinas we stayed at (our 37' Benetau cost about $125 for the night, others were about $80), but you get what you pay for and this place is one you could stay at for several nights and not get bored.

Let's talk basics. The Harbor Master (sorry can't remember her name) was very helpful at guiding us to the marina once we were within a nautical mile or so. She helped us dock and tie up, get electricity hooked up and we were on our way. We desperately needed to clean up and found the showers facility very nice. Private showers and restrooms are very nice. We had full use of the pool, spa, hot tub etc... and all were in pristine condition. They have a fitness center, tennis courts, pools and a beach all included in your dock fees. But we were there for just one night and it was a bit cool.

They have a shuttle available to take you to town, to re-provision your boat, but we simply walked to the local CVS where we got enough food and drink to get us going again. We used their laundry room and it was good. Everything worked as it should and soon I had clean clothes for the remainder of our trip.

We dined at Portofino, since it was right there in the Marina building right on the dock. We dined at the bar, and the service was good. Food also was very good. A little pricey, but hey, it's Longboat Key, what isn't? LOL So we dined and drank then headed back to the boat to crash for the night.

Longboat key club and Moorings is definitely on our list for our next sailing adventure.Perhaps in the Spring or Summer when it's warmer and we can partake of more of the amenities. It's a beautiful Marina, well taken care of, with good food, great shower and laundry facilities and we'll be back!
