Staying across the street, this was a nice find nearby. Breakfast/brunch, eggs Benedict on crab cakes , good, I had cheese plate and the pâte. Both very good. A glass of wine. All very fine including excellent service. All good except the espresso, an auto machine brew, bad coffee. What is it with American restaurants and bad coffee? They have it all until they serve the finale...a bitter bad espresso. No barista machine, and it is a lazy thing, there are dozens of French and Italian places in Sarasota and the area, none would be caught dead serving auto brew espresso. I know they just don't want to go to the effort of making a good coffee, but that is what separates a fine dining experience to that of mediocre. The restaurant supply places give these crappy machines to restaurants for free (many do) and the bistro just buys coffee. Well invest a couple grand in a good machine and grinder and train your staff to use it. The rewards will be plentiful! Cheers! All in all a great place, just bad espresso.

We visited on New Years Day for brunch and things were just OK. First, do not order the omelets. They are not omelets... They are flat, over-cooked egg patties... They don't fold them and they are way to brown for my liking. They in no way resemble anything similar to an omelet so they should be renamed. The Bloody Mary's were good, though not homemade. My husband's over easy eggs were crispy...the griddle must have been too hot.

It's a cute place, and the food around looked good, it just wasn't the experience we looked for. The server did notice that the omelet was not eaten, so it was removed from the bill. Still up in the air as to whether I would return.

Although the atmosphere inside was lovely and the food was fine, the service was way below the level that I would have expected. It took several minutes to have our drink order taken, then a lengthy amount of time for our appetizer and entree orders, second round of drinks and desserts. Although the food was good, there was very little follow up throughout the meal, We routinely eat at restaurants with similar prices, we are not demanding or hard to please (I did not have a problem when told that my arugula salad would not have arugula as the kitchen had run out), and we usually tip 25% or more; however, the tip we left here was minimal as we were made to feel like we should feel lucky to be given any service at all. Overall not a happy holiday meal.

My wife and I dropped in for lunch, we were not disappointed. The shrimp-cargot was to die for. The food was excellent, the quantity was generous. Will go back many times in the future.
