We had four wonderful Prix Fixe dinners about $35 each at Harry's tonight. I can't overlook the warm bread, butter and roasted garlic before we ordered. The vichyssoise and shrimp creations were excellent as was the chopped liver, beef and desserts -- we split the coconut cream pie and New Orleans bread pudding. We felt the soup might have been thicker and the pie might have had a more pronounced coconut flavor. Otherwise, we enjoyed our meals until....A party of 11 older persons were seated at a table next to us in a relatively small room. Even before they ordered drinks their talking and laughter were ear-splitting. Not wishing to interfere with their merriment, we asked to be relocated to another table. Our request was denied. Several years ago at Ruth's Chris Steak House in a Chicago north suburb, we faced a similar situation and were relocated to a quiet table at once. On leaving Harry's I noticed a number of excellent tables outdoors, far enough away from Gulf of Mexico Drive to eliminate traffic noise and exhaust pollution. Had we chosen to dine outside on the pleasant Florida night, we would have enjoyed the excellent and creative dishes all the more.
