“Le Bon Vivant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2014

Maison Blanche is an example of the good life. It has it all: Food fit for foodies, outstanding wines, remarkable ambiance and great service. The menu is Prixe Fixe consisting of a starter, entrée and dessert. We substituted a mesclun salad for dessert which we elected to be served after our entrée. The Foie Gras terrine was smooth and full of flavor, My braised sweetbread entrée was tasty and served with a beet puree. The hit of the night was my wife’s suckling pig. It was baked to perfection. The skin was crisp as it should be. The meat was tender and tasty. Our salad was fresh and lightly dressed, We selected a French Bordeaux that complemented both entrees and starters. Do not let the entrance fool you. Upon entering, you are transformed into a room elegantly furnished. This is truly a special occasion place. There might be 25 tables in total, Reservations are definitely a must. Our server had a heavy French accent that added to the experience. It reminded me of upscale restaurants that I have eaten in when in Paris. A definite come back to place!

“2 Excellent Meals”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2014

My wife and I accompanied another couple to dinner here upon recommendation from the Concierge at Longboat Key Club and had an excellent meal. Two of us ordered the fixed price 3 course meal and the other two ordered a la carte. Every dish was very well prepared and extremely tasty (including the amuse bouche). Additionally, the wine list was reasonably priced and had a good choice in each price range $40+ (commensurate with the dinner prices). We were so impressed with the food, the service, the ambience and the overall positive vibe of the place that my wife and I returned a week later for dinner on my birthday. Again, everything was very nicely done & we tried to persuade them to move to NYC (Brooklyn, specifically). Appetizers of foie gras terrine and herb ravioli (believe it or not, more French than Italian tasting) were standouts and the Suckling Pig entree was excellent. The overall cost was not inexpensive, but totally in line with the prices in the area and it would be considered moderate for food of this caliber in NYC. Highly recommended.

“First class French Restaurant in Longboat Key”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 12, 2014

Small, expensive and elegant restaurant in an unlikely location, housed in a corner of the ground floor of a small condo building on the Longboat Key gulf side beach. Ambience, service and food (for the most part, except for slightly turned scallops) were first class.

“C'est Bon”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 25, 2013

While visiting our children, we had the pleasure of dining here. It's decor is elegant yet relaxing, the staff attentive but not overbearing, but the food was the real star. To me, a French restaurant must have fois gras, it did and was delicious. We each had something different from steak to fish to suckling pig (my choice and it came with crackling- heaven) to sweetbreads which my husband said were fantastic. We all ended the meal with a good selection of cheese. Overall, it was a most wonderful repast.

“World Class”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 1, 2013

Everything was perfect....the food looks great, is precisely prepared and tastes even better than it looks. The atmosphere is calming, the tables well spaced and the service excellent. The wines on the list are well chosen and match nicely with the cuisine. I'll be back!
