Husband and I ate here once when we were determined to try the local stone crab claws. They were good, of course - but we later found them better priced at Dry Dock Waterfront Grill.

Stone Crab was good but not outstanding. If you're looking for a "special" seafood restaurant... try someplace else. If you love Stone crab... the $32.95 'all you can eat' is a steal!! Not sure how often they offer this.. probably not "in" season, so call first.

My daughter and I split a platter (lots of food, good call)...the lobster was solid. I regret not having the stone crab, so get a platter that has their specialty. The table next to us ordered a ton of it, it looked very good. My sister didn't like her crab cake, was expecting something with a bit more pizazz. Outdoor seating looks very nice, but it was a bit chilly to enjoy that.

Moore's Stone Crab Restaurant is all about the crabs. Moore's cooks take the crabs directly from Moore's own boats and then serve them up with very little to distract the diner from the delicious experience of extracting the buttery meat from the pre-cracked claws. The side dishes (iceberg lettuce salad, baked potatoes in foil jackets) and the decor in the dining room probably haven't changed since the 50's but they don't need to when the main attraction is as authentic as it is at Moore's. The crabs are the best around, the drinks are generous and cold, the prices are fair and the view out over the Intra-Coastal Waterway is a bonus. There's nothing to be crabby about here!

If you are staying on Longboat Key, you should try this local spot. It isn't fancy but it has a lot of atmosphere. The waitstaff appear to be competent and the stonecrab offerings are out of this world. The rest of the menu appear to be quite decent too.
