We enjoy doing something crazy each time we go away. This trip we decided to dine at The Dining Room at Little Palm Island. In full disclosure, our meal cost over $200 for just the two of us. (and we only had one glass of wine each) But, here it is, BUT, the experience was out of this world!!! I felt like a Hollywood star with my starlet wife there.
It started with the 7:30 ferry ride to the island. The first mate helped us aboard the boat and when we arrived on the island, he walked us to the restaurant hostess once we reached the dock. The hostess met us halfway down the dock and said "Welcome Mr. & Mrs. XXXXXX." We were then led to the dining area and given our choice of dining on the beach or up on under the dining hut. We chose the beach. We arrived about a half hour before sunset, and within minutes the mosquitos started attacking. Our waitress (I'm sorry, I don't remember her name <about 40, blonde>) offered to move us off the beach or a spray of OFF, we chose the OFF.
The ambiance of sunset and the setting on the beach at sunset was unforgettable. If you want a romantic dinner setting, this is it.Then, the Key Deer arrived. Again in full disclosure, I am a deer hunter, but the sight of these magnificent creatures actually coming up to your table was truly awesome.
Unfortunately, that's where the magic ended. while my veal chop was excellent, my wife's rib eye steak was horrible. No taste and tough. I felt bad for her, as it seems she is usually the person with the lemon whenever we go out for a meal. Service once the meal was served was non-existant, to the point we were not able to catch the ferry we wanted to return to the mainland so we could hit Louie's Backyard for last call. (That was something that was on my bucket list.)
Over all, I'm glad we stopped there, though I nwish I told the waitress of my desire to catch the 9PM ferry. You gotta splurge once in a while!
