“A Novel Dining Experience”
Reviewed January 3, 2014 via mobile

If you like adventure and intrigue, you have to dine at Cap's. First suggestion: use your GPS to arrive at the Marina on time. After parking, you wait for a mystery boat which you will board in order to ride about ten minutes to Cap's. The boat captain will tell you all about the history of Cap's as you appreciate the local surroundings. After landing, you meander past the separate bar to enter Cap's and wait to be seated. The four of us sat at a roomy table with such an accommodating waitress. We ordered our drinks and then perused the menu with many fish specials. I ordered a clam linguini dish with whole and chopped clams and toasted Italian cheese encrusted bread pieces--totally delicious. For dessert, we splurged with a fabulous key lime pie. What a memorable dinner--in both epicurean and historical perspectives.

“Historically great fish place”
Reviewed December 28, 2013 via mobile

Came on visit and introduced by locals. The local snapper is sublime. They have great friendly staff and individually prepare each dish. A visit to the area should include this historical location.

“Picturesque spot, historic story, don't go for the food!”
Reviewed December 23, 2013

Good spot for a drink if you're in the area; an old rum-running bar/restaurant on the water, with a water-taxi service. Food is OK but overpriced; most fish dishes we tried (5 of us) were overcooked - crab cakes were excellent, probably the best, but wildly overpriced ($35 for 2). "Signature" hearts of palm salad was raw and inedible.

“Best crab cakes on 7 continents”
Reviewed December 15, 2013

This is a great destination place to eat. First of all, they have to ferry you from the parking lot to the island where the food is served. It is one of the oldest restaurants in Florida and has a lot of character. The food here is better than a lot of seafood restaurants, and not as good as some but without a doubt it has the best crab cakes that we have eaten anywhere and the competition for second place isn't even close!!!!

“I fine taste of history.”
Reviewed October 31, 2013 via mobile

This place is very unique. It starts out with a short boat ride to an island setting. Approaching the buildings, the bar is on the left and the restaurant on the right. Both buildings consume a lesson in history dating back to pre - prohibition era. The staff is wonderfully friendly and down to earth. The meals are wonderful, fresh and plenty. The dinner specials are limited to ensure their freshness. Stories of many dignitaries including presidents have visited this place. If you are looking for an original experience than this is a place to go.
