“BEST PLACE ON THE BEACH IN LDBTS”
Reviewed January 18, 2010

i have stayed at the High Noon for 23 consecutive years. We always have gone during the Christmas/New Years holiday's. The staff is very accomodating and always pleasant. There are a variety of different style rooms to fit your needs. The rooms are always clean and the housekeeping staff is wonderful. The High Noon is walking distance from a grocery store, several small shops, restaurants and bars. Again, BEST place on the beach!!

We arrived at the High Noon on a Sunday - quite by mistake. We had spent the night in a nearby hotel and left those premises early Sunday morning after a night of problems. The High Noon was exactly what we were looking for...the front desk clerk was more than accommodating by showing us to our room before the stated check in time. We were allowed to view the room and give our approval prior to check in. We found the room clean, roomy and with the amenities we needed: a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and safe. The bathroom area was a little cramped, but no one complained. The grounds were immaculately groomed...absolutely lovely. The pool sparkling clean and shuffleboard and grills for guest use. The grounds offered shady areas as well as plenty of chairs near the pool and beach for sunning. The gates were locked (guests were given a code ) after office hours. It's a wonderful place to relax with your family. Lauderdale By the Sea had everything we needed within walking distance: great restuarants, grocery stores, ice cream shops and souvenirs. A great place to vacation!

Let me start this review by saying that we love staying in smaller, non chain hotels and try to do so as much as possible. We stayed at this hotel over the Christmas holiday. The hotel is quaint and very close to the square in town, which is a nice feature.

Our room was average at best with so much furniture stuffed into the space it made us feel very claustrophobic. The arrangement of the pool & chairs, coupled with the small walkway made it hard to reach the door of our room. The bathroom was small but clean. There was no full size fridge as the website might lead you to believe, it was a small, dorm size fridge and the microwave was placed on top of it.

On our first full day there, we returned to our room to find that the housekeeper hadn't even locked our door. Needless to say we were very concerned about our valuables after this. We told the front desk attendant and she didn't even bother to apologize, she just said that she isn't sure what happened. Well, what happened is someone came in to the room to clean and didn't check to make sure that the door was locked back, leaving our room with computers, jewelry and other items open if someone wanted to walk in and take it. Yes, there is a safe, BUT BEWARE, the batteries can go low, which means that you can't get your valuables out unless the staff is there to let you in with their special keys. NOTE- The staff's hours are very much like bankers hours. Don't expect to be able to find someone when you need them.

The proximity of the pool to the rooms makes it impossible for mid-day naps or sleeping in. Once the first guests are up and using it you won't be able to drown out the noise, even with the A/C unit, as was suggested by the front desk when we asked to be changed to a quieter location. We were told that there was no availability anywhere else and that no one had ever complained about the noise. If we wanted to sleep we just needed to run our a/c unit. My suggestion, if you want to relax and sleep-in every once in awhile, FIND A DIFFERENT HOTEL.

The icing on the cake for us was our last night. After being kept up well past midnight with the party going on in the center of the town we were kept up by 20+ people drinking beer and having a volleyball tournament in the swimming pool, right outside our door. It was 3 AM and they were yelling and drinking and totally inconsiderate of anyone else. Since there is no staff around to do anything, the sign that says that the pool hours are 9 am to 9 pm should just as well be used for a beach bonfire since it doesn't matter and there is nobody around to see what is going on in the hotel. We ended up leaving at 3 am to find somewhere else to stay, since it was obvious we weren't going to be able to sleep and we were going to be traveling over the next several days.

If you like a small place and are traveling with a group where you can pretty much do as you like with the place, then this is a good option. If you are trying to relax, then look elsewhere. The layout isn't conducive to enjoying some peace and quiet and the staff isn't going to care if you voice concerns over noise or other issues. This is one instance that I would have preferred one of the "chains". There are some nice touches, but for the price per night it definitely isn't worth it.

Also, don't bother trying to reach and owner to voice concerns, after leaving 3 messages with no response, I just gave up.

Passing through LAUDERDALE BY THE SEA on our way back to Indiana after a week stay in Key West. stayed at the High Noon resort in the Sea Foam annex. This is a small older hotel , very quaint, spotless clean, safe area, great parking, free WI-FI and quiet. Sweet courtyard with patio tables and pool. Hotel has beach and ocean views. Spoke with owner and felt very safe at hotel. We hope to visit again .High Noon makes our FAVORITE HOTEL list!!

Based upon Tripadvisor reviews, we stayed at the High Noon resort for 5 nights during Thanksgiving. The location is right in the heart of the Lauderdale -by-the-Sea beach action, walking distance from great restaurants & right on the beautiful beach. The front office was very helpful. I'd like to especially thank Maureen for her wonderful, nearby Corelli italian restaurant suggestion. Try it. The rooms are very clean and spacious. The pool area is cozy and there are plenty of chairs and lounges. The owner even went out of his way to lend my cash strapped son, cab money to get to the airport. We paid him back. It's not a fancy place, simply a laid back, comfortable, quiet family oriented hotel. A throwback to a simplier era. I'd highly recommend it & will return when we're in that area.

We have stayed here a few times our initial stay was a few years ago (when they had the Music Festival in Ft. Lauderdale) and we loved it . We now have a little one and this still our favorite place to stay. There is so much we love about this place. We love the staff from Maureen in the front office to the maids. Everyone here is really accomodating. The grounds are beautiful. The rooms are clean and really nice, We have stayed in the High Noon and the Seafoam. Both are really nice. We like the Seafoam Building the best, I guess it's just because that's where we first stayed. We have already booked for next year. It's truly a gem. I would recommend it to everyone. The other plus is it's proximity to shops and dining too.

Lauderdale By The Sea is one of the most relaxing places to be. The High Noon/Sea Foam is one of the nicest resorts/hotels we have ever stayed at. My husband and I travel a lot. We have gone to Hawaii, Alaska and other parts of Florida. This is by far my favorite getaway. We have been going to LBTS for the past 6 years. We have stayed at the High Noon/Sea Foam for the past 5 years. We would not choose to stay anywhere else. Our reservations have already been made for next October. You will not find a more friendly and cooperative staff anywhere.
